Anyone hear about this plane crash? DJ AM and Travis Barker
with DJ AM and Travis Barker from blink 182. I just saw it on CNN but can't find it anywhere else. Is this new news or old news? Supposedly they are both in critical condition.

They were talking about it at length on MSNBC (actually, I shouldn't say at length- it was more like they were repeating over and over what they knew, which wasn't much at this point.)

I just see the CNN breaking news banner: Ex-Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and disc jockey DJ AM critically injured in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed 4, AP reports.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A hospital spokeswoman says former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and a popular disc jockey have been critically injured in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. She says the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.
Hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits says Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were at a burn center in Augusta, Ga.
Federal officials say two crew members and two passengers have been killed.

Bergen says the Lear 60 was headed to Van Nuys, Calif.
She didn't have the names of those killed and didn't know the conditions of the two people injured.

they mentioned on CNN that Travis was taken into the hospital by ground but DJAM had to be airlifted so he's more critical.

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and a popular disc jockey were critically injured in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people, authorities said Saturday.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane went off a runway and crashed on a nearby road, she said.
Hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., about 75 miles southwest of Columbia.
Two other passengers and two crew members died, said the National Transportation Safety Board. Their identities were not immediately available.
Barker and Goldstein, who perform together under the name TRVSDJ-AM, played a free concert in Columbia's college neighborhood Friday night.
"It's absolutely terrible and tragic," Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said.
A representative for Barker and DJ AM said she had no information the crash.
After Blink 182, Barker went on to form the rock band (+44) — pronounced "plus forty-four." He starred in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers" with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, to whom he was married at the time. The show documented the former couple's lavish wedding and life.
Goldstein at one time was engaged to celebrity Nicole Richie.

Condition Update - Barker and DJ AM
TMZ has learned Travis Barker has been burned from his waste down, but he is expected to survive to plane crash.
DJ AM's face was severely burned and is been tended to right now.
We're also told the tragedy is all the worse -- Chris Baker, Travis' assistant on "Meet the Barkers," was married recently and has a new baby.
Travis and DJ AM Save Lives By Jumping
Sources tell us Travis Barker and DJ AM saved their own lives after their plane crashed by jumping out the door of the burning plane, almost immediately after the small jet came to a halt.
As we reported, both are at a burn center, but it could have been fatal. The Lear jet was already on fire when they fled.
Travis' Assistant Dies in Crash
Travis Barker's assistant -- featured on the reality show "Meet the Barkers -- was one of the four people who died in last night's plane crash in Columbia, SC.
Chris Baker, 29, died along with the pilot Sarah Lemmon, co-pilot James Bland and Charles Still. Barker and DJ AM are still in a burn center in Augusta, GA in critical condition.
Gavin Degraw's father has told a local paper in SC Degraw was not on the plane and is still in Columbia.

i found this pic of the plane ...
Airport director Mike Flack said the jet reportedly hit the fence during take-off, pieces of the plane broke off and the fuselage caught fire.

this can sometimes be the case but not always.
i'm not sure about this particular situation but with my brother - he was NOT airlifted because he was so critical that they could not wait for the road to be shut down, copter to land, load him up and take him to NUMC -- they, instead, took him by ambulance b/c it was already there and the quickest route. who knows w/ this case but that is what happened with my brother.
