Anyone hear of Island Park?
Hello!
My husband is interviewing for a job in the Island Park schools this week. What can you girls tell me about the town or the school? We don't know anything about the area since we're from eastern Suffolk.

It's close to Long Beach. I know it's a small district, there is no HS. Student go to West Hempstead HS. I know there was some talk about letting the students go to LB, but I am not sure that ever happened.

I live close to there. Its between oceanside and long beach. I worked in the middle school as a TA (and did a short leave) about 5 years ago. Is he interviewing at middle school? What is he interviewing for? The principal there is so nice! I loved working there!!! It is a small district. 1 middle school an 1 elementary school. The HS students go to west hempstead.

my best friend lives there and his family grew up and stayed and love it. I honestly think its a great place but i have no clue with schools.

I have a friend who grew up there, as did her entire family and now she lives there with her DH. They love it. It's a small, very close-knit kind of community.
I've never heard anything bad about the district.
ETA: Though I agree with XPosting this to Teachers, Career Parenting AND Home boards...I noticed Home wasn't mentioned...

I grew up there too. My dad still lives there but we went to Catholic School. Its a pretty small town but its nice there. Its a solid mix of demographic
