Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
I had Pre-E with my DS and was induced at 39 weeks. My doctors are currently talking about the possibility of inducing me this time as early as 37 weeks - literally ONE elevated BP reading and they will be inducing. I'm 100% on board with this because with my son the doctors waited too long to induce and it was dangerous for us both.
So, my question is for anyone who delivered at 37 weeks, did the baby have to spend any time in the NICU? I know they technically consider 39 week "full term" now so I wasnt sure if at 37 weeks she would need any special care or stay extra days? Obviously if I can make it to 39 or 40 weeks that would be ideal, but I'm trying to plan for worst case scenario here if they do have to induce me earlier.

Re: Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
With my second DS, my water broke at 37.5 weeks. He was totally fine and did not have go to the NICU. The only difference between him and my older DS born at 39.5 weeks was he was a pound lighter and an inch smaller. I think after 37 weeks, they aren't even considered premature.

Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
I just had my ds last month at 37 weeks exactly due to pre-e. We were so scared he would have respiratory distress because i also had gestational diabetes, but he was fine (thank God!). No nicu time at all. Oh...he was also 8 lbs 3 oz

My DS was born at exactly 37 weeks because my water broke. He did not spend anytime in the NICU. He was 6.9 lbs.

Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
I had my first at 37 weeks. Was scheduled for a c-section, but went into labor on my own. No NICU time. Just 12 hours under the lights for jaundice, but that wasn't related to the birth. She was considered full term at 37 weeks.

My twins were born at 36 weeks and both were fine good. One had to be put in the NICU for fluid in her lungs (c-section). But otherwise fine and both good weights. I had Pre-e too.

kind of hijacking a little, but did your OB say why they feel they would induce you early this time around? I thought there was really no connection between having Pre-E with your first and subsequent pregnancies. I can't remember who told me that but it was either my RE or my OB.

DS was born at 38w4d and DD at 37w6d. I went into labor early with both. Neither had to spend any time in the NICU.

They're monitoring me very closely because I've had a few instances of the blurry vision and such that I had in the early stages of pre-e with my DS. I havent had any readings of high BP yet, but as a precaution they have me on low-dose aspirin and they're going to be doing growth sonos starting very early to watch for any changes.
What my OB and high risk doctor have said is that they really dont KNOW if there is a connection or not. If you have it once, you could have it again. Or you could not have it again. There's really no rhyme or reason to it. It's essentially an autoimmune disease that occurs during pregnancy. So, to be safe they are watching me very closely because in my first pregnancy my BP went so high that I should have been seizing...I got lucky that I didnt. They just dont want to take a chance this time.

37 weeks is full term so as long as the baby is a healthy weight and there are no issues there should be no nicu stay.
My water broke at 38.4 days and my DD spent 2 days in the nicu because I had a high maternal fever and they needed to monitor her for possible infection. So I think you just never know what could happen during labor even past 37 weeks.

Re: Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
I had severe Pre-e with my 1st and was induced at 36 weeks, 5 days. My BP was 150/90+ and went higher at times. I was put on magnesium, etc. It was a failed induction so I had a c-section and it was all horrible. Wasn't allowed to go to the nursery with my baby, I had to be kept next to the nurses. No NICU for him. He was only 6lbs4oz. 6 days after delivery I had to be readmitted via the ER bc my BP was high, my reflexes were crazy, and they were afraid I would have a seizure.
With my 2nd DS, my BP started to go up at 17 weeks. I was put on blood pressure meds. I had more frequent scans. My Ob's never talked about induction or scheduling an early c-section. If anything, I was going for a VBAC and they were allowing me to go 1 week past my due date. I delivered VBAC at 40w3d. My DS was almost 9lbs.
Wishing you a healthy pregnancy. Pre-e can be so scary.

I think the stance has recently been changed on this and they don't consider full-time until 39 weeks

Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
DS2 was born at 37 weeks weighing 7lb2oz. We were able to snuggle and bond for the first hour or so after he was born but then they took him to the nursery for a couple of hours for monitoring because he had a rattling sound in his chest. Ultimately it turned out to be fine and he spent no time in the NICU.

Yup this. They changed is shortly after I had my son. My son was not considered pre-mature but if it happened today they would considered him born at 37 weeks premature.

Oh wow - who knew! So anything earlier than 39 is a premie?

Re: Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
I don't think that's consisted premature. I was curious trying to find an explanation of the current classifications and found this article . It says 37 to 39 weeks is considered early term. Before that there is late preterm and it goes from there.
Dd2 was born at 35 weeks 4 days. She did well despite some complications and the fact that she was barely 4 pounds. She spent 8 days in nicu but her early delivery was entirely due to her own complications rather than mine or early labor.

Anyone induced (or went naturally) at 37 weeks?
DD #2 was born via csection at 37w because of borderline pre-E. She was small..6lbs 9oz but perfectly healthy and spent no time in NICU. I also have GD which combined with the pre-E made them give me an early csection. She was healthy as can be no NICU time at all.
The nurses told me that we was considered a late term preemie.
