Anyone install a closet system recently?
We're looking to install a closet system DIY for the 2nd bedroom and was wondering if anyone has done this. I'm wondering if we should buy all the wood and cut everything to size or go with HD, Ikea, etc already made stuff and install that. I definitely want a few drawers, mostly shelving and bars for hanging clothes.
Any pics? I want to get some ideas...

More pics in my Album .
We did ours DIY. We bought it at Lowe's. We bought ClosetMaid brand. We love it. It made so much more room in our closet. It only took us a weekend. Our closet isn't that big, so we had to make sure everything was going to fit just right, so we took our time doing it.
I love the pic you posted. So cute with all the little girls clothes in there.

Mine was from HD I believe and you just buy the pieces. I know it's not the size you are looking for, but just to give you an idea on the setup. The other side which you can't see in this pic is all shoe storage, shelves and hooks. We actually bought the house with it already there  Image Attachment(s):

This looks like the same size as our closet and now I really want to do this too! Do you have closet doors as well? We have the kind on a track - two that slide back and forth, and I hate them, but since the closet isn't a "standard" size I am finding it hard to find an alternative that doesn't cost a fortune.

check out the container store website - they have a few different set ups. I have been looking for something for my closet as well.

Thanks! Don't mind. It's a kit in a box or you can buy it separate. We bought the kit for a 5-6 foot size closet. We had to cut it down to what we needed. It was about $75-85 I believe. Then I think they had a 6-8 foot size kit too, don't remember the price, but probably between $95-$100+. They also have pieces you can buy seperates like drawers and customize it to you liking.
Check out their site. They have ideas and different things to look at. We went to Lowe's with all the dimensions. Height, width, depth, and size of door opening.
OR check this site out. Easy Closets.com Your can create your own with the diminsions of your own closet. It's fun. GL Momma!

Yes we have sliding mirrored doors. We are keeping them for now. It gives depth to the room, so I might just keep them.

We have the same system that Jen has. We also bought the drawers to go in it.
DH's closet ws under $100, but I bought the wider one for my closet, which was just over $120 or so. (without the drawers - but drawers were only about $20 or so each?)

Your welcome! That is great. Yup Lowes prices aren't that bad when it comes to something like this. Well at least you got some ideas from site and then saved money.
Can't wait to see the finished project.
