Anyone Interested In Having A Baby Sale?

No we wouldn't sell our babies Chat Icon
I have soo many cute baby clothes and baby items that I just don't feel like taking time to list on ebay and CL. It's so time consuming with pics, etc. I was thinking of maybe hosting a used baby sale? People could bring their gently used baby stuff to sell to other moms looking to buy. It would be sort of like a big GTG with everyone selling/buying. Would anyone be interested?

Re: Anyone Interested In Having A Baby Sale?

great idea !

and instead of onesy two-sey prices, I was given this advice (on LIW I think Chat Icon) for a garage sale.

just put all $1 items in one bucket/box/pile, all $2, all $5 or whatever the price.

and maybe have photos or printouts with lists of what you have at home that may have been too big to bring.

great idea, and if anyone is interested in buying, the nassau county mother of twins club has this type of a sale 2x per year, the next one is right around the corner, 3/18 in hicksville, i believe 7:30 pm. I went last year and it was great. Tons of baby equipment, clothes, toys, etc for GREAT prices.

Sounds like a good idea, depending on the location (although I've been giving away tons of my stuff lately b/c I just don't want it in my house Chat Icon )

Re: Anyone Interested In Having A Baby Sale?

Well, I live in Port Jeff Station, so we could have it at my house. I have a large room we could use for it.

I really don't want to have to post that some people will be excluded, but I think since it's in a home, and for the safety of myself and everyone else attending, we have to keep it to people that actively post on the boards KWIM?

I was thinking a Saturday in March or April, excluding March 8th and March 29th, what does everyone else think?

Sure..I know I am always buying used baby clothes for DD, so I imagine there are other moms on here that do the same! Plus people on the preggo board could come! I wouldn't invite strangers off the street over unless it was an outside yard sale thing.

Sounds good to me. I should know by then what #2 will be and know whether I need to keep all my girl clothes or not - and then I can stock up on boys!

Re: Anyone Interested In Having A Baby Sale?

Why not see if you can get a common room in a church basement/K of C, etc.? Those selling could pay a nominal fee.. $10 or so to rent a table (and the room probably has tables) to defer the costs of the rent and you wouldn't have to excluse anyone for safety issues. I know they would be much cheaper during the week or maybe a Friday night.

As far as knowing what bin the items come from, I'd suggest colored stickers (large circles) placed on the items. It would be even less confusing if everyone equated the same color with the same price...

for example

red dot= $1.
Blue dot= $5. etc.

There is a church near me that does a large baby equipment sale every year and that's where the idea comes from.
