I think you should be able to still get it, give you have at least 7 days notice, but sometimes once your final payment is made, it's too late, it just depends on the agency!

Re: Anyone know about travel insurance?
We've always bout our travel insurance at our TA. With elderly parents, we never know what is going on, and god-forbid one of us gets sick. It's worth the investment for peace of mind.
As long as you have not made the final payment, you should be able to buy the insurance.

Re: Anyone know about travel insurance?
Well it might be tricky. Usually for them to wave pre existing conditions you have to buy it 10-14 days after you 1st book the trip. You might encounter problems if you booked awhile ago and they ask for documentation as to her illness.

Re: Anyone know about travel insurance?
I bought trip insurance for my trip to europe in April AFTER the whole iceland debacle. It was like 3 days before our trip. We ended up having a smooth trip so I'm not sure if we would have had problems collecting.
I'm pretty sure you can buy trip insurance pretty late.
