Anyone know anything about Heelys?
Why do they vary in price so much? What's the difference between all of them? They range from $54 - $80. I want to get my nephew a pair but not sure if some are better than others...

All I know is that they force kids to walk much differently than they would normally--which my inner gut tells me is probably no good for their growing feet...

I thought the same thing.. they only force you to walk differently when the wheel is out... when the wheel is popped up and in, they are regular sneakers and you walk normally...

the are heavier and a bit cumbersome if they will be walking longer distances.
but my niece and my godson LOVE them.
like all things...the PARENT should be monitoring their kids usage. if that is done, they should be fine.

I believe Heely's is the name BRAND. Everything else is a knockoff. I don't know if there is much of a difference.

I'm not sure what the differences in the prices are but if you are interested, they have them at Dicks.com Prices start at $29.97 for heelys normally priced at $59.99.

My 8 year old has them and loves them. I think they're fun. It's only a sneaker with wheels on the bottom. They come with a cover to close the gap when wheels are removed so they can also be used as reg. sneakers when in stores. Kids might seem to walk funny in them b/c they are a bit heavy. Otherwise, i would recommend you get the original brand - Heely's.
They sell them in Kids Foot locker in all sorts of different colors.

I hate them! They should totally be outlawed! Parents shouldn't let their kids wear them...in the mall, or the supermarket. Kids are just freewheeling around, they can kill you (or themselves!)

ITA! One kid bumped into me in the grocery store when I was 8 months preggo!  AND the mom was like, "oh sorry  " when I HAD to tell her kid to watch where he was going. IMHO, those things should be illegal.

i think the price range might vary by style and size but if it is from heelys they are all the same quality. they also run different from regular shoes so make sure you ask i believe that they run a size smaller but i might be wrong and they might run a size bigger than a regular sneaker.... oh and bobs in patchoauge has heelys accessories like helmets and pads on clearance really cheap and some of the heelys themselves are on clearance too. good luck
