Anyone know anything about Paternity Law?
A family friend's son thinks he is the father of a newborn baby (long story)
Anywho, does he really need the mother's SS# in order to fill out the Petition for Paternity?
How in God's name is he supose to get that?

nope.. he doesn't need that.. just her name and address for the petition.. they'll send her a summons in the mail to appear in court for the test.

That is what I thought......he went to the court on Friday and they told him he needed her ss#. He is young and not that bright (obviously if he doesn't know if the baby is his or not) So he didnt question the information clerk any further! The girl is a nut as well!

i've seen petitions filled out with nothing more than the mother's and baby's name and the town the father *thought* they lived in. the court will get the information it needs to send the summons.
he most definitely does not need her SS#!

he can also contact Focus. 854-0857 . They are a GREAT group of Para legals that helped me with everything I needed when i was going through this with my daughters birth father.  for him for WANTING to be sure and step up to the plate good luck
