Anyone know anything about substitute teaching?
I am looking to become a substitute teacher, and am wondering what I need.
Do I need my Bachelors just like becoming a teacher, or are there different rules for being a sub? TIA!

Re: Anyone know anything about substitute teaching?
why dont you call the district you want to work for directly (HR) and tel them you want to apply.
Im a sub but dont remember what the requirements were.
good luck
ETA Do it now for sept, sometimes it takes very long for the paperwork to go through. I lucked out because I sub where I student taught and both districts just put me right in. but I heard horror stories of waiting so long. and you have to be on top of it and follow up.

Re: Anyone know anything about substitute teaching?
If you have just a BA you can sub 40-45 ish days a year
If you have your teach cert or are working towards it, you can sub as many days as you want
most districts now require fingerprinting, so you may want to look into that if you haven't had any taken.

Re: Anyone know anything about substitute teaching?
I sub in a Catholic high school (for 2 years now) The pay isn't as bad as you might think and the kids are really good. They don't have ANY requirments. I subbed there while I went to college and did my student teaching there. Good luck!
