Check the recipe board. I think someone posted a recipe the other day.

I wouldn't use a crock pot, use the old boil in a pot recipe, you can't go wrong, 1 hr per poundChat Icon Enjoy, I'm making 20lbs tomorrowChat Icon

I stick it in the crockpot with some chopped cabbage and onions. cover with water. salt and pepper to season.
cook on low for aboout 10 hours.

can I ask, how many pounds can you fit in it? My Nanny would kill me if she heard I was inquiring about cooking it any other way but boiling it in water, but you are the 2nd person that has said the crock pot cooks it better. TIAChat Icon

I put it in the crock pot. I had it in there for about 10 hours.

I did potatoes, cabbage, onion, and 2.5 lbs of corned beef. A little salt and pepper, beer and some water.

Came out so good. I had 2 big plates of it.

DH tried it and didnt like it. But he never liked corned beef. He only tried it because he loves me Chat Icon

I don't even know....Sometimes I cut it in half if it's too long...
it does taste better though...my other always boiled it and it was yummy...but something about the crock pot makes it so much better! My husband requested I never boil it again!

Re: Anyone know how to make Corned Beef in a crockpot?

i just made it today after checking on here first......

it was sooo much better in the crock pot, cooked it for the 8 hours low....

peeled and cut the potatos and carrots on the bottom. Then put the corned beef with the seasoning ontop then put the cabbage around the corned beef( i have the large oval slow cooker, so there was plenty of room)

The only thing i would add next time is cut onion into it for more flavor but it tasted good, and dh had secondsChat Icon

Re: Anyone know how to make Corned Beef in a crockpot?

I may be a little too late to help you, BUT...

I made our corned beef and cabbage in the slow cooker yesterday. My mom's been making corned beef for over 40 years, and she always boiled it on the stovetop. After tasting my "crock pot" corned beef, she's been converted! It came out SOOOOOO good!!!

I just put in the corned beef, added a can of beer (makes a HUGE difference in the flavor), covered the rest with water. Cook low 12 hours. I took the corned beef out, wrapped it in foil, and then added the cabbage for an hour. It was AMAZING.

Good luck...can't wait to have some of the leftovers tomorrow Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
