Anyone know how to start a Charity

Hello all....I have never ventured outside the parenting board, but I have always wanted to start a charity. I feel like I need to do more......I have always had this pull, this feeling inside me, but have put it on the back burner and not a darn thing about it. I am done with that! I have some ideas of things I want to do, but have no idea where to start. I would be collecting items for now, not money so does anyone know what steps I have to take to do this?

That's awesome! Establishing a charity takes some time and alot of work. I'm not 100% sure of the procedures but from working in non-profit (fundraising) for 12 years I know the following: You need to establish your charity as a 501 (c) 3, and I believe you also need to get articles of incorporation. You may want to start by seeking a non-profit attorney who can guide you.
