Anyone know if you can purchase personal short-term disability insurance?
I don't get anything for maternity leave, so I was wondering if I could purchase this type of insurance for myself and if it would be worth it.

if it is a pre-existing condition I don't think so, if you could, every expecting mom would do it

Yes, you can get AFLAC, but you have to get it at least 10 months prior to entering a claim.
It's definitely worth it, but ou have to plan ahead

We looked into disablity insurance 2 years ago and they told me it would only cover maternity if I had complications not if I had a normal delivery which I thought was odd.

I was under the same impression. In fact, I have a friend that bought this type of insurance because she knew that when she got pregnant she would require a c-section.

This is true. DH has Aflac through work and I would have been covered if I had had an "accident" while pregnant.
