Anyone know what happened on the LIE?
They had it closed from exit 60 to 61. It was such a nightmare to get home and I can't find any info anywhere about it.

I was just going to post on this..
It took me over 2 hours to get home  when it should have taken me 25 minutes. I actually had to "stop off" and get dinner for DD before she went nuts. I thought I was going to lose my mind too
I heard it was a motorcyle accident. I can only assume it was fatal being that it was closed for so long during rush hour!

There was an accident...i heard they had about 3 exits closed. I couldnt imagine that during rush hour!

I was just going to post this! I live just by Exit 61 and there was still traffic at 9pm!
It took me 2.5 hours to get home and I was SOOO late picking DS up

They have been closing the LIE for overnight construction. I get out of work at 11PM and I take the round about way to avoid the backup on the service road.
This was something else. It was in the middle of rush hour. It had to be an accident or something like that.

No, this was definitely an accident today. At first, I heard the accident was just on the shoulder, but when I got up to it, the LIE was CLOSED between 60-61.
I got there around 6PM and it was STILL backed up by 8PM

DH said there was an accident - a motorcycle and van collided and it was a fatal accident....That's what he saw on the traffic report when he got home - after sitting in traffic for almost three hours.

I heard it on the news this AM. A van veered suddenly into a motorcycle. The motorcyclist is in critical condition, they don't know if he will make it. The van driver is also in the hospital. They don't know why he veered yet.

They are allowed, even if it's only 1 passenger.
I can only assume it is "safer" for motorcycles to be in the HOV lane since there is less lane switching
