Re: Anyone know what the top rated infant car seats
There are a bunch of top rated infant seats, depending on what you're looking for. But every car seat on the market has to meet the minimum safety requirements. My suggestion is to buy the book Baby Bargains and read up on the seats in there. It's also good for just about everything else you're going to have to buy for your baby.

Safety wise all seats must pass the same tests and standards to be on the market. When it comes to ease of use and installation I liked going to the store and looking at them and try them out for myself. Personally I picked a chicco key fit for the infant "bucket" and the evenflo symphony 65 for the convertible seat.

Key word here is minimum. Just because they all have to meet a certain standard does NOT mean they are all equally safe.
I haven't looked at infant car seats in a few years, but we went with the Peg Perego. Almost everyone I know has the Graco.

Anyone know what the top rated infant car seats
We checked the Baby Bargains book for ratings and went with the Graco Snugride. The others that rated really well were the Chicco Keyfit and I believe the Peg Perego and one of the Britax models. I can check the book when I get home.

Correct on the use of "minimum" but there's also no such thing as "the safest" car seat on the market. Some are better in side collisions, others are safer in front or rear end collisions. Or maybe the poster is more interested in size and how it will fit into her car. Or perhaps she cares about whether it will work with certain strollers.
The point is that all car seats are deemed "safe" but it's impossible to say which is "the best" since personal opinions play a factor. I was just giving a suggestion to read the book and make the best informed decision for herself.

Graco snugride 35 is one of the top rated seats, I was looking last week and did a lot of asking around, research and went with snugride 35 .

Re: Anyone know what the top rated infant car seats
I'm going with the Snugride 30, because I had the original Snugride (which expired) and the Snugride 35 is just too heavy and I can't imagine carrying a baby that heavy in it (my kids at 4 and 5.5 aren't even near 35 pounds yet!)

We went with the Snugride 30, too. At first we were going to get the 35, but that one just seems so warm because of the material. I was afraid that baby would be too hot in the summer.

I'm going with the Snugride 30 for the same reason

Anyone know what the top rated infant car seats
Some best ones are the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, Maxi Cosi Mico (mine), Chicco and Graco.

Agreed.
Another factor for us was that we were getting the Uppababy Vista and only certain car seats snap into it, so you might want to decide what stroller you are going with first.
