Anyone knowledgeable in buying a car? How does "cash back" work?
When a dealer advertises that they are going to give you X amount cash back- what exactly does that mean?

they will issue you a rebate/cash back check about 1-2 months after you purchase the car.
I personally hate promos like that... just give me the discount now. don't make me wait weeks and weeks for a rebate

most dealerships/programs i know of give you that credit towards your car. you will see it as a line item.
i would talk to your salesman to find out exactly about the program

that's the way DH said most customers take it (off the cost of the car).

Cash back usually means a rebate towards the car so for instance if a dealership says $3500 cash back then they would subtract the $3500 from the total cost of the car
