Anyone live in Elwood School District..?
DH and I are looking for a house in E Npt and I heard that Elwood school dist does not have a before and after care program - is this true?
I also heard that since the district is small there is not as much budget for school trips - is this true?
Any info anyone can give is greatly appreciated!!

before and after care, you could probably search online.
school trips--I thought there were fees involved at any school. I would think that Elwood would have a decent budget in general. Then again, they didn't have a public library in that district when I was a kid.

don't know much about the district, but school trips are never covered by the budget. they are paid for by the students.

I'm pretty sure there is after care, not sure about before care. Great district! I graduated from Elwood.

Re: Anyone live in Elwood School District..?
I am pretty sure there is before school care for the primary school (it starts later than the 3-5 school.) The 3-5 school does not have before school care, but it begins before 8, and parents can drop off starting around 7:30.
There is after school care at both the K-2 and the 3-5 schools until 6pm.
There are trips, most grades have at least 2-3 per year in the elementary school. Much is covered by the PTA, so it's not just by the kids.
HTH! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Anyone live in Elwood School District..?
Even though it is my high school rivarly, John Glenn (boo hiss!), I've heard it's a great district.
I live down the road a little bit, so I'm in Northport-East Northport. They have a before-school program for kindergartners and an afterschool program for the elementary schools - not sure about middle school as we aren't there yet.
Commack - a little to the East, has full day kindergarten.
