Anyone live in PA?
I would really like to move due to the fact that my son is a special education student, and really has no fair chance at receiving a high school diploma in this state since they made some changes last year. This thought has been lingering for a while. I have been researching, and it appears that PA allows children with IEP's to graduate based on meeting their goals etc. (NY they have to pass the Regent's test.... same test as the general ed students).
So if you live in PA and you love it, can you tell me where, and how the schools are for both general and special education (if you know). Prefer to stay east of Harrisburg. Thanks

Re: Anyone live in PA?
This probably isn't much help becuase you said east of Harrisburg but I'd recommend Pittsburgh. It's a really nice small city, very reasonably priced homes/taxes, family friendly, lots to do. I have lots of family there and I'd move there myself if DH were willing. I can't comment on the school aspect though.

Re: Anyone live in PA?
My sister lives in Milford and I grew up in the area (although right over the border in NY).
I believe it's the Delaware Valley School District.
My guess is the school district is decent but you can do the research yourself.

DH's sister lives in Yardley, the Pennsbury SD. It's a really nice area. The school district is really large and covers several towns. She has been happy with her kids' education so far. She works in Trenton and her husband works in Princeton NJ which is pretty close. I think there is also a commuter train that goes to Philly.

Re: Anyone live in PA?
I just moved out of pittsburgh, it is a great city, but the schools within the city are horrendous. Some good areas near pittsburgh would be fox chapel school district, upper st Clair school district, mt Lebanon, and pine Richland
I currently live in devon, which is like 30 minutes from center city philadelhia. I live in the tredyffrin was town ds which is very very good, but the surrounding districts of radnor and lower merion are also very good. However, this is not a low col area, it easily rivals Long Island- ie4-500,00 for a 3-4 bedroom house, although the taxes are a little lower, usually about 5-7k a year.
One other thing to mention- your son is pretty young I think, right? A lot could change in both ny and pa in the next decade, so I'm not sure I'd move states based on that at this current time.
