Anyone making an email address for baby?
Was thinking it would be cute to make a gmail address for baby and then when she is of what I feel to be a right age to give it to her as a gift and forward emails to it of people wishing us well when she is born, etc.
My DH and I can send her the first email on her birthday maybe! :)
Anyone else doing that?

I have one that I sent a couple of emails to. Haven't done it in a while though.

Re: Anyone making an email address for baby?
A friend of mine set up a Facebook account for their son when the wife was pregnant - tracking pregnancy stuff. The child is now 4 and is tagged in hundreds of photos, status updates and things like that. I can't help but think it's something he'll love to look at one day……..it's like a living breathing photo essay of his life….

Re: Anyone making an email address for baby?
Yup, I made one for him once we decided on his name (around 28 week mark or so). Since then, both me and DH e-mail him regularly. He now has e-mails from when he was in my belly, to the day we went into labor, when he was born and basically for the last almost 11 months since he was born. We tell him what he's doing, any trips we take, how much we love him, etc. It's one of my most cherished things because those memories will always be captured.

Re: Anyone making an email address for baby?
I decided against it. I don't really care for the idea. I don't see a child/teenager sitting through all those e-mails, I feel like it would be overwhelming to read them all. But I do like the idea of letters and notes in general. At my baby shower, people wrote letters and/or prayers for DD and it went into a nice little book that I have saved for her someday. I also kept a journal for her during my pregnancy up until she was 1 yr. (I started one for baby #2 also). I suppose that's not all that different than e-mails, but I feel like I'd rather a physical thing to hold rather than an e-mail address. I guess just cause that's the way I am. lol. If I have an actual book, I'll sit and read it at night in bed or whatever. But if it's online, I tend to get too distracted with articles and social networking stuff and would rather not sit there reading long letters, etc. I just figure my kid will be the same.
By the way, a really cute idea I heard about and would LOVE to do is to write your kid a letter for each birthday (about why you're proud of them that year, etc) and put some money in it. Awesome gift at 18 because not only is it a nice keepsake, but a great gift of money too. I think I'd like to start that.
ETA - maybe that would even be cute to do at the end of each school year rather than birthday and make it into a fun graduation gift (maybe adding their school pic for that year to it. haha).

Yes. We send short 2-3 sentence emails periodically with a picture of her attached.
