Anyone never think they could be a SAHM- but now wish they were?
I always said I would HAVE to go back to work after having kids. I thought I would need to have my own paycheck, that I would mentally need to be at work being productive and good at my job.
I've had a great situation so far- I work for the family business so I've basically made my own hours and I can bring DD to the office with me when I need to be there. I've been working since she was 1 month. My sister and I also trade back and forth- she takes the kids and I go to work for the day and vice versa.
But- that's pretty much over. I'm still going to have her with me all day- my dad- the boss- is turning a large empty space in the building into an area that my sister and I can work in. It will have a TV and plenty of room for the kids (DD and my niece) to run around. So, we are now expected to be in the office pretty much full time.
I almost wish it was one or the other- now I'll be more like a WAHM- only not at home.
I know I'm lucky to have this situation, but I feel like I'll never be able to give either job 100%. I wish I could just not work...or work at night/weekends when DD can be with DH.
Maybe if I actually liked my job I would feel differently.
I don't know what the point of writing this was...I guess I just needed to get it out.
Discalaimer- I do not mean for this post to offend SAH, WAH, FTW or PTW mom's

Not me - I would not be a good SAHM. I LOVE love love my son - but I am just not built to SAH all day (not that you would stay at HOME all day ....but you KWIM - )
And while others may find your situation fabulous, I agree with you -
When I am @ work, I'm @ work - unless there is an emergency of some sort, or I have to make a Dr. appt or something, for those hours in the day, I am focused on my job - and when I leave, I am focused on my son. -
I'm sure many would think it was great to be able to bring their kids TO work .........but I wouldn't like that arrangement either. - Like you said, it's never 100% focused on either

Re: Anyone never think they could be a SAHM- but now wish they were?
I didn't think I could do it with my first, but once the girl one came along, I could not see how we were going to juggle two careers (mine being a much lower paying job) and run a family and a house (and to be fair, my house is just barely run anyway ) So, I am now a stay at home mother, and I am really enjoying it!
I loved my job, but being the school run mother is a much better job! The money is crap, and my boss is demanding...but I wouldn't trade it for the world now!
