Re: For the SAHM's...
DH has his own landscaping company. We're not rich LOL - we've made a ton of sacrifices for me to stay home and so far so good.
Once the kids are in school I'll need to go back part time.

Re: For the SAHM's...
My DH and his family (dad and uncle) own and operate a family-owned car and truck dealership, as well as a service shop. The one downside of a family owned business is that he puts in super long hours and rarely has a day off.
ETA: DH is the 3rd generation and has hopes of Andrew taking it to the 4th

DH works for a hedge fund. The salary is ok, HUGE bonus at the end of the year, but really long hours.

Re: For the SAHM's...
DH is an accountant and works for Deloitte. I have been a SAHW and SAHM while we lived in Ireland and I am hoping to continue staying home once we are back in NY. I think I have DH 75% convinced.

Re: For the SAHM's...
Since I'm now a SAHM ( without the mom part yet)...I guess I can answer. Dh works for Rockaway Bedding and also has a small e-bay income on the side.

DH is a retail manager as well and I'm a PT preschool teacher. I'm off for the summer and we have not decided if I will go back right away yet. I also have a side Ebay thing, but it's not consistent

Re: For the SAHM's...
I think it is also important to look at what the SAHM used to do for their careers. There have been many studies that prove for some women staying home actually SAVES money. So it isn't just about what the husband does that is important. If you (not you personally, I mean just generally) make $30K per year and daycare costs you $10-12K...then working doesn't really pay...you know what I mean?
