Anyone NOT have a successful vbac delivery?
I have to make a decision of vbac or c-section, we have been going back and forth about it. If we go vbac, we need to find a new OB which im not happy about. I had a traumatic experience with DD's delivery and hearing uterine rupture is about 1 in every 100-300 patients. I just don't know what to do...

Re: Anyone NOT have a successful vbac delivery?
I'm in the process of making the same decision (although my OB will deliver me even though they don't really encourage it). I know at least 2 people who attempted it and ended up with a c/s and a co-worker who had a rupture (although it was in the 80's and they gave her pitocin which they won't do now). So I'm leaning towards repeat c/s, but it's such a hard decision to make!!

I'm on the same boat.....DH feels that I shouldn't take the risk...I already had the c-section, recovery was not bad at all so why not just another one.
will be discussing the subject with doctor on Monday after my Level II.

Im the opposite, im leaning towards the c-section and DH wants to try VBAC but i don't think he read what i read. The whole uterine rupture thing scares me, DD was a big baby (8 lbs at 2 weeks early, i shutter to think what she would have been at 40+ weeks). I read uterine rupture can lead to death of mother and child and that scares me. I feel like if i do the c-section DH will think im taking the easy way out KWIM. I just don't know what to do.

Re: Anyone NOT have a successful vbac delivery?
I'm the opposite. I had a crazy experience with DS. Wound up having a crash c. I was first thinking vbac, but I'm ok with having a c-section. I just want the baby out and healthy. I don't care how he/she comes out. DH first wanted me to have a Vbac b/c he missed out on Mason being born. He wants the whole delivery process with the labor, pushing, etc. I told him to have the baby and push a watermellon out of his pee pee hole and see how he likes it After discussing it with the OB he's on board with a c. I told him he'll be there this time, but stay behind the curtain. LOL!

Re: Anyone NOT have a successful vbac delivery?
DS# 2 was my VBAC attempt baby. I went into labor on my own 10 days before my EDD. My water broke at home, contractions started pretty much right away. Went to the hospital, everything went VERY smoothly... FAST, but smooth. I got the epi when I hit 7 cm, quickly hit 8, and then things went downhill. DS heart rate started to drop. My cervix started to swell shut, and I was whisked into the OR.
Turns out the cord was wrapped tightly around his neck, and my cervix swelling shut was a blessing... had they not gotten me in when they did, things could have gone bad.
HOWEVER
My uterus held up to labor beautifully. The OB told me that I would have ended up with a c-section regardless of it being a VBAC attempt or not. This baby was NOT going to be born vaginally even if # 1 had been a vaginal delivery. So that made me feel better.
You have to go with your gut on this one. Its a huge decision. A lot of it depends on the reason you had a c-section last time. Was it stalled labor? A large baby?
Personally, I am SO glad that I at least attempted it. Even though I ended up with a csection anyway.
Good luck with your decision. Honestly, the possibility of uterine rupture was never even a thought for me during labor or during the decision making process. Its such a slight risk.

Re: Anyone NOT have a successful vbac delivery?
I will be trying for a vbac if everything goes according to plan. I've done a lot of research, and the chances of rupture are no more with a vbac (as long as you are a good candidate and labor is not induced) as they with a woman who has never had a c-section. There are more risks involved with a repeat c than a vbac.
