anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I am having twins and i mostly just see my ob - my sonograms are at huntington hospital - which is cvoered by north shore docs
my twins each have there own placenta -
I have a very laid back OB which works for me. She was fine with me skiing at 16 weeks (i am safer on skis then walking) and lets me still run till 20 weeks
do you need to see a high risk doc if you are having twins

I don't see a high risk dr. either, I will be 30 weeks on Friday. I always thought that you had to see one but I guess each person is different.

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I don't know if my doctor was specifically a high-risk doctor, but she had a lot of experience w/ twins, delivers at LIJ and I liked her a lot......those are the reasons why I chose her.

I didn't see a high risk dr. until there was a reason for me to. My cervix was shortened at 25 weeks.

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I didnt my entire pregnancy. ever.
I used my obgyn. He saw me every 2wks.
I had a prior pregnancy with no complications and no previous conditions that worried him.
I had an amazing pregnancy with the twins, went to Florida at 20wks, went to a bon Jovi concert at 7 1/2mths and delivered two healthy boys via scheduled c-section at 38wks.

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I wish I didn't. I only see one because my twins share a placenta. He comes in after the sono once a month and says everything looks great, see you in a month, and I have to pay $50 a pop because he is a specialist. Everything else is 100% covered except him. I wish they just had him see if something wasn't normal . . .but don't get me wrong, I'm much happier paying $50 to hear him say nothing is wrong! Just gets expensive!

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I dont see one. I went for a consult once to the Winthrop High risk doctors and since then i have been going back to my doc every 2 weeks. Basically if my doc ever has a high concern about something he touches base with them and they decide how to move forward. Saves me the trip and stress of having to get to another doctor every freaking week.

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I don't see one. My twins share a placenta, so my obgyn has monitored their size closely to make sure they were not showing signs of twin to twin transfusion. I have been going for sonos every week or every other week for almost the entire pregnancy. The sonos are done in his office right before my appointment with the doc, so the results are right there for him to look at. So far, so good... I'm 35w3d today.

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I've been seeing a high risk doctor throughout my entire pregnancy. My OB recommended it. The nice part is he comes to the practice twice a month. I love my OB but I'm glad that I see the high risk doctor because there were some instances during my pregnancy where I needed a second opinion.

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
I never did. Saw my regular ob on a normal pregnancy schedule. No problems, delivered at 37 weeks because I started to have bad swelling and slight preeclampysia.

Re: anyone not see a high risk doctor with twins
the only reason i did was b/c i had preeclampsia with my 1st pregnancy and my OB wanted me to be watched more closely. otherwise i would not have.
