Did/do you see a high risk dr automactically b/c its twins?
My dr. automatically has me seeing a high risk dr since I am having twins (share same placenta). The dr. said starting at 22 weeks I will have the Fetal Fibronectin Test done to see if I will go into labor within the next two weeks. To start having this done at 22 weeks just seems so early to me. Is it really necessary? I had no complications with my first two pregnancies.

I never had a high risk doctor, but my twins did not share a placenta.

I saw a high risk dr. immediately. I think b/c it was twins and I went through IVF. Who is your doctor referring you to see?

Your having identical twins right? I would without a doubt want to see a high risk Dr. for identical twins, the risks are higher.
I see one frequently but I do have issues that make it neccesary. I would rather be safe then sorry though...although it is very hard to get to all my appointments with a 2 yr old...I have been seeing the high risk Dr weekly since 12 weeks and now at 27 weeks, it hasnt been bad at all....

I am only seeing a high risk Dr. because of a clotting issue. I started at my regular ob/gyn though. I'm having fraternal twins though, I think you are much more high risk with identicals sharing a placenta.

My twins were fraternal and I saw a high risk because I had a history of miscarriages

Re: Did/do you see a high risk dr automactically b/c its twins?
I FM"d you, but I saw one from 16 weeks on and my boys were idential and shared a placenta. Went to Madonna in Mineola for Doppler Sonograms and another type of sonogram (can't remember) and then after 30 weeks i went every week for a stress test. I also saw my regualr OB/GYN during the process. I was going to doctors like it was my job.
They did this because identicals who share the same placenta are at a risk of getting TTTS which can present itself at anytime. My boys started showing signs of it at 34-35 weeks and they kept them in there until 36 weeks.
