Anyone notice a trend in not finding out the gender?
I have noticed recently that a lot of people want to be surprised. DH and I think we want to as well. Do you think that after all the hype about finding out, now the pendulum is swinging the other way?

We're not finding out and I thought we'd be in the minority, but my dr. said that lots of his patients don't find out.

We aren't finding out. Everyone we know that has kids now did find out the gender, BUT everyone I know now that is pregnant is NOT finding out! So who knows?

We aren't finding out, I honestly, in person have not ran into anyone lately who has saved the secret. Usually they look at us like we are nutty.

We're not finding out, and I feel like we were in the minority. Most people I know that were recently pregnant found out.

Re: Anyone notice a trend in not finding out the gender?
I felt like I was the only one not finding out. When I tell people this there like " oh, I can't believe it..You want a yellow and shower?".. My family is excited we are not finding out but "outsiders" think its "wierd". Oh well, too bad. My decision. Im carrying this baby for 9 months and I want to be surprised. I love the anticipation

We are going to find out with this one because I want to know how to prepare and I am too neurotic! But if this one is a girl- we definitely won't find out next time!

Re: Anyone notice a trend in not finding out the gender?
There's a pretty even mix amongst people I know- some want to know, some want to be surprised. I think it's a very personaly choice and as long as you and your DH are in agreement, other people should just shut it!!

I didn't want to know. I made it to about 24 weeks then I caved in. I wasn't crazy about yellow and green. I loved all of the gender specific items.

Re: Anyone notice a trend in not finding out the gender?
We wanted to be surprised. IMO it is the greatest surprise you can get in your life.
There were times I just wanted to know. I even went ALLLL through my file in the obgyn's office one day when I was waiting on line to make another appt, thinking maybe I'd find it in there.
But in the end I am so glad I waited. When she was born and the doctors said "It's a 10 lb baby girl" I was soo shocked and so surprised and EXCITED! I had been convinced it was a boy!

Re: Anyone notice a trend in not finding out the gender?
I thought the trend was to find out the gender. A lot more people I know find out with their first child than not find out.
We found out with our first (currently in utero). We won't find out with the second. We live 1500 miles from our families so they won't make the birth of our first. We hope to be living near them when our second child is born. Then DH can have that moment of running out to the waiting room and announcing it.

See I thought the trend was that way too. But recently I have talked to more people who want to be surprised. I guess it has gotten boring to know it before.
I know it is personal, I just find it funny that the past 10 years or so almost EVERYONE finding out, now some people are swinging the other way.

It's an even split for me - half my friends found out, half didn't. I'm not sure what I would do. (Not pregnant yet)

I'm not finding out with this one but if we have a second child I will probably want to know beforehand. I find nowadays there is an even mix of people who choose to find out or not. Most people when they hear it is my first are excited that I'm not finding out.

Re: Anyone notice a trend in not finding out the gender?
I am a planner...I wanted her room to be girly (and if it was a boy - boyish). It was just as surprising to find out at my 20 week sono. I swore it was a boy! And my DH and I could not agree on a name so we had all that time to debate names. If I would have waited til the end, she never would have come home because she wouldn't have had a name
