Anyone own a paper shredder?
Can anyone recommend a small sized paper shredder? DH and I would like to get one, especially now that they are saying identity theft is on the rise. Thanks.

We got ours at Target. It's a cross shredder (diamond shaped shreads). It also cuts up old credit cards, etc.
One word of advice-avoid putting anything through a shredder with staples - it can ruin the blades.

I've had two from Target ($19 and $29) and both broke.
We now have one I got at Staples I think that was $69. I figured it was smarter than buying several more cheap ones! LOL!

We've had one for years. I'm not sure where DH got it - probably Staples, Office Max, or Target. It's nothing fancy, but it does the job. It's held up a long time. I wouldn't go crazy getting anything expensive.

We had a $20 one on our bridal registry. As long as its cross-cut and shreds cards/CDs, it should be fine. Check target or staples.

We got a Fellowes brand one from Best Buy a LONG time ago and it's been through everything and keeps on going! Just don't get the one that shreds in one long line..it defeats the purpose of shredding...

we got one from bed bath and beyond for my bridal shower! lol (well, i did register for it! lol)
get one that crosscuts, so it will be next to impossible for someone to go through your garbage and piece it back together.

We got ours at Staples. I think it is xerox brand. We shread a lot (all our mail with our names on it) and we have gone through a few shreaders. But I tend to try to shread too much and break them

I gave up on those small shredders. Now I have a shredding company that comes to my office to take my shredding. I use a shredding company that also has a walk in counter. They are open to the public and they use the large industrial shredders. FM me if you need information.

We bought a Fellowes brand one at COSTCO for about $80 and it is amazing. We literally shred EVERYTHING that has our names on it (seriously, everything) and we always have a stack of things to shred at once and it just works so well.
I had bought a couple of other cheaper shredders at Target (the $40 ones) and they all broke and we were shredding MUCH less at that time.
Also, I have a $20 shredder that I got at Staples like 10+ years ago and it is still working! My mom has it now. But we just put like 2 pages at a time in that one.
And ITA that you should only buy one that cross shreds.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I am going to check BJs and see what they have and then check staples. I will definitely get a cross shredder though.

BJs has two great models in our store (Setauket). One is around $99 for something large and the other is around $69 (I think) and it's medium size. My MIL has it and loves it!
