Anyone take Cleocin/Clindamycin HCL for a bacterial infection???

I went to the doctor about my eye yesterday and he said it was an infection of the eyelid. He prescribed me this med. I'm supposed to take it three times a day for 7 days. I've looked it up and I'm not comfortable with taking it after reading about it. I've never taken it before. I'm pretty sure I've taken other meds for infections though. Has anyone taken this before or have heard about it?

Thanks!

I took clindamycin for a bacterial vaginal infection. No side effects.

I recall if you read about the possible reactions, etc to this drug, there was a possibility of some sort of severe colitis developing, right? Well, I spoke to a friend who's a pharmacist, and she assured me that such a reaction is incredibly rare and really not worth declining the drug over it. Realistically, most drugs have the potential for toxicity in certain cases, but these cases aren't common and the benefit of the drugs outweigh the risks. HTH!

I developed c diff colitis after taking clindamycin, but I was on it 3 times a day for almost a month, and that was after a week of other antibiotics. I would think a week would be okay. Took me about 4 months to get rid of the colitis though.
