Anyone taking Clomid who is NOT doing IUI?
I feel like everyone around me that's taking Clomid is also doing IUI. But my RE never suggested this for me (not that we could afford it, since it's not covered by my insurance...).
Just wondering if I'm alone on this! We're just going for the timed BD.

The only reason we are doing the IUI is because we were diagnosed with hostile CM, which means timed BDing wouldn't ever work for us. If you don't have any issues like that, I don't see why you would even need the IUI

Hmm...I never had a post-coital...I'm wondering if I was given the "full workup" that I should have gotten... I didn't have the HSG either, because she said it wasn't necessary...

Um, yeah, that's a little suprising. If you've been trying for some time and it's not happening, the RE is supposed to do a full, investigatory work-up. If it turns out you have hostile CM, or a tube is closed, then why waste unnecessary time trying on your own?
Within 2 months of meeting with my RE, she did 2 post-coitals, an HSG, all of the necessary bloodwork, and an MRI of my uterus. That way we knew exactly what was going on before making a full plan of attack.
Did your RE say how long (s)he plans on putting you on Clomid with timed BD before venturing to other options?

I never had a post-coital either, but we already knew what our issues were when we went to the RE. I knew hostile CM wasn't the issue. I have PCOS and we also have MF issues.
My first two months on Clomid were without IUI. Hostile CM isn't the only reason why you would go with IUI. The point of IUI is the "help" the sperm along and put them closer to their target. So if you have MF issues it will help to slightly increase your odds to get PG because the sperm don't have to swim as far. Also, Clomid tends to dry out your CM, which the sperm need, which is why you would also do IUI.
I would highly recommend though before you start more agressive treatment that you have the HSG done to rule out any tubal issues. Why put yourself through months of trying to get pg, if a tubal issue exists and you don't know about it. JMO

Re: Anyone taking Clomid who is NOT doing IUI?
me. i'm on my 2nd round of clomid without IUI. I did this the first time around when I conceived DD. i have problems ovulating- w/ DD we did the blood work but never really found out why I don't always ovulate... i'm sure the answer is, however, the extra weight that I carry (I'm probably 25 lbs overweight) and I am slightly insulin resistant.
anyway- i only am allowed to do up to 3 cycles on clomid w/o IUI though.

3 months.
When I was first diagnosed w/ PCOS, I was told that my uterus and tubes looked good on the sonogram. But now I'm learning that you can't really SEE the tubes by sonogram.
Grrrrrr. Maybe I'll do this month and next and see what happens. If nothing happens, I'll request the HSG and post-coital.
DH's SA was "picture perfect", so we don't think he has any issues.

Re: Anyone taking Clomid who is NOT doing IUI?
I did two cycles of clomid with just timed intercourse. I was not ready to be any more agressive than that. After BFN with both those cycles I wanted to move on to IUI. So I never got a post coital since we moved on pretty quickly. I did have an HSG before moving to IUI. I didn't want to waste anymore time if I had a tube issue.

Re: Anyone taking Clomid who is NOT doing IUI?
I was given the option of whether or not to do HSG and I decided to do it because I didn't want any surprises down the road. As for IUI, my RE suggested it with Clomid and I was open to it. We never did a post coital, we just went for the IUI.
