Just wondering how many weeks you are or were when it was prescribed

TIA

Re: Anyone taking procardia or its generic version? (nifedipine?)

i took procardia for pre-term contractions. it was first prescribed at 25w4d, which is when i first had documented contractions (i'm pretty sure they started way before then).

i actually didn't take it for long, though, because it did nothing for me. i took terbutaline for a longer period, which stopped the contractions but had nasty side effects...

overall, those meds are relatively safe. my baby is (to our knowledge) perfectly fine.

They just started giving me this in the hospital - at 31 weeks. I take it every 6 hours, will be on it till the babies come. I guess it was working for me otherwise I would think they'd give me something different.

They told me its actually a blood pressure medication but they have found it relaxes the uterus. They said its not as strong as terbutine (sp?) so they give the procardia first.

What is SPD?
