Anyone taking procardia or its generic version? (nifedipine?)
Just wondering how many weeks you are or were when it was prescribed

i took procardia for pre-term contractions. it was first prescribed at 25w4d, which is when i first had documented contractions (i'm pretty sure they started way before then).
i actually didn't take it for long, though, because it did nothing for me. i took terbutaline for a longer period, which stopped the contractions but had nasty side effects...
overall, those meds are relatively safe. my baby is (to our knowledge) perfectly fine.

thanks i am in my 33rd week; just started taking it on Tuesday
I have not had any contractions but I am 80% effaced; not dilated
Lots of low pressure

They just started giving me this in the hospital - at 31 weeks. I take it every 6 hours, will be on it till the babies come. I guess it was working for me otherwise I would think they'd give me something different.

thanks Lauren i read that it is a category C med. so i wasnt to crazy about that but then I read about lots of ladies taking it
i take it 2x a day to prevent contractions
i also think i may have this SPD??

They told me its actually a blood pressure medication but they have found it relaxes the uterus. They said its not as strong as terbutine (sp?) so they give the procardia first.
What is SPD?
