Re: Anyone throwing a graduation party of some sort?

Is it a 'big deal' graduation? Like.. graduating from high school? A 'medium deal' .. like graduating from Pre-K or moving to a different school? Or a 'Just Cause' .. like being promoted from one grade to the next?

Robbie and No are both being promoted, but neither one is moving to a different school. We are having a small bbq and inviting just a few of their friends (I think Robbie picked 3 kids and No picked 2) - plus a few family members/close friends.

We are doing typical bbq - burgers, dogs, bbq chicken and some garlic shrimp skewers. Grilled veggies, Corn on the cob, house salad, fresh fruit. We'll probably throw out some Fla-Vor-Ice for the kids and have some s'mores later for dessert. As usual - chips and dips and maybe a crudite and some olives and radishes for snacking.

Games? I throw up a slip and slide and let them drag their yard toys out to play with.

If it were a 'bigger deal' - I would probably do a little more... but I am kind of cheap with the rentals! Chat Icon

smores...yum..I just made a smore ice cream cake.
My daughter is going into the high school. I decided against the rental I think we might all just hang low and walk to the beach if anything.
I am back to my menu now that the graduation itself just ended.

Re: Anyone throwing a graduation party of some sort?

I'm throwing a baptism party in August and want to do a outdoor party, but don't want to stand at the grill for burgers, dogs, etc....so here is my tentative menu (all things that can be made ahead and even ok to eat at room temp):

Mini Crab Cakes with Chipotle Remoulade
Orzo salad with cranberrries
Pulled Pork Sliders
Mini Curried Chicken salad sandwiches
Black Bean and Corn Wonton Cups
Baby Red Potatoes
Sausage, Peppers and Onions
Tortellini Kabobs (tortellini, mozz and grape tomatos on a skewer marinated with italian dressing)
Fruit Kabobs
Cake
Lemon Mousee Parfaits

So I guess I'm having more of a tapas party....and not a BBQChat Icon
