Anyone try those Yogurts for your digestive system?

Like Dannon Activia or Yoplait Yoplus?
Do they actually work?
I've been eating them for about a week and haven't seen a difference- but I know you are supposed to eat them for at least 2 weeks.

Anyone think they work to "regulate" you?

No. I saw a nutritionist and she said for a 'quick fix' they MIGHT work, but overall you need that 'acidopholous' to be in your system for months for it to 'regulate you'.

I'd rather start taking a pill every day then have to eat yogurt. They sell REFRIGERATED pills, because the whole point is that the bacteria be alive, and the ones just on the shelf are only EH, but if they are COLD and kept cold - they're alive when you digest the pill and much better for you.

I've seen such huge improvements since I started taking Acidophilus pills every day, it's insane. I've taken a couple a day, every day, for a few months and don't know how I lived without it.

The yogurts might be fine, I don't know, but the pills only take one second to ingest and don't have any calories; plus they work out to, what, 10 cents a day? The yogurt must cost 10 times that.

For me - with IBS-D - it helped put back all the bacteria that i was losing by going to the bathroom non-stop. No stretching the truth - there were days I would go to the bathroom (number 2) more than 10 times...(depending on the amount of times i ate that day).

I also hear that acidophilus pills are good for preventing yeast infections but I never saw much of a difference with them.
I read somewhere after the fact that the only real way to have acidophilus help with yeast infections is to insert them in your who-ha. When I heard that, I stopped reading! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

the key is to have the LIVE bacteria - so the regular bottles on the shelves won't help much.

BUT - the refrigerated ones make a HUGE difference. (i get yeast infections when put on two rounds of z-pack)..
