TMI - C-section and issues with digestive/GI system
Every since my c-section a few weeks ago I feel that things don't move normally down there....i am not as regular with my bowel movements (tmi) and i just don't seem to be operating the way I used to (really have to strain to get things out, etc.) It just makes me nervous b/c I know some organs were moved around in there and I am wondering if things will ever go back to normal?

I was delighted that I never had this problem, but they told me in the hospital to expect it to happen. It's normal, and they said to take colace.

I went through the same thing. It will get better. I promise. I know it was NOT fun!!
Like I said, it does get better.

Re: TMI - C-section and issues with digestive/GI system
I had this happen after DS1. The doctor recommended Colace (or the generic brand of the same thing for a lot less $), and it really helped. I only needed like twice and I was back to normal.

Re: TMI - C-section and issues with digestive/GI system
I have the same issues. I was already weak in that department to begin with.
I was told it was normal. Just remember you had an abdominal surgery and they moved your guts out of the way. The guts are NOT too happy right now.
I agree with Colace. Try to be careful of what you eat. Gassy foods (sodas, etc.), acidic food (tomato based) and raw fruits/veggies (not that easy to digest).

Re: TMI - C-section and issues with digestive/GI system
Since we're sharing TMI...
No c-section, but I can tell you that trouble with that is NORMAL. They gave me Colace in the hospital and were going to stop once I had gone once, but I demanded to keep taking it. When I left the hospital, I spent the $35 on a bottle of my own and took it for about 2-3 weeks...things are so tender down there that I couldnt' deal with what was either "normal" consistency OR "hard" crap ( ) so I took Colace and it helped ease me back into things.
so embarrassing to discuss pooping...
