anyone TTC and in a bridal party? (with poll)
I really need help! I'm the MOH in a wedding Dec. 1st. The bride wants us to order the BM dresses by June 2. My DH and I have been TTC #2, but no luck yet. June 2nd is only 2 weeks away and I don't know if or when I will get pg. She said if I'm pg then I could just wear a different dress, but since I don't have a crystal ball I don't know what I should do. The bridal store also told me that the dress style is one that can't be let out (lots of rouching and very fitted) so ordering extra material is not an option. So, my options are order my regular size, take a guess and order a bigger size, or wait and order my dress separately from everyone else so I will have a better idea. I know I need to allow at least 12 weeks so I was thinking if I could hold off until August I would know more. Oh, and if I order a bigger size how much bigger should I order? The most I could possibly be pregnant is 6 months. What would you do?

what kind of dress is it? Because some dresses they can order separate fabric and open the dress to make a panel. Did you talk to the sales people?

Here's a pic of the dress. I spoke to the saleswoman and she told me they can't take it out or add fabric since it has all of that rouching.

Re: anyone TTC and in a bridal party? (with poll)
I had this dilemma and i ordered my regular size. as it turns out i will be 4 mo.s pregnant at the time the wedding come and they *think* they will be able to alter it in such a way that it will fit me but they arent 100%. I am kicking myself for not ordering at least one size bigger. i dont think i would go more than two sizes bigger because that doesnt look like a dress that will be easy to take in either - but i would go atleast one size bigger than normal.
ETA: I wouldnt wait until Aug because the color will probably not match exactly.....

I agree with this. I'd order one or two sizes bigger just in case. They could take the dress in, right?

they said they could take it in, but i'm kind of leaning toward holding off on actually ordering. the dresses will be in black and it's also a taffeta material so i don't think the color should be a problem.
i'm also afraid that if i am 6 months pg that the dress will look silly on me and i'ill wish that i had just gotten a maternity dress.

Re: anyone TTC and in a bridal party? (with poll)
Dresses are easier to take in than to let out. I would order it biggerAND I would order it at the same time.
For my wedding, I had two teenagers that were very petite. They are less than a normal size zero. The smallest size they could order was a BM size 4 (equal to a normal size 0) and it still had to be taken in. The salon told us that a dress can be taken in up to 5 sizes and maintain its proportion without looking silly. So if you order a dress a few sizes too big and you get PG, you should be fine. If you don't get PG, they should still be able to take it in and have it look like everyone elses.
I also agree that ordering at different times could affect the color - even black. There are many different shades of black. I have been in BPs when dresses were cut from different dyelots and as a result, a dress had to be recut and remade. It may not be seen by the naked eye, but put the BP in front of a camera with lights, and it can show in the pictures.

i agree that you should order now with everyone else so that your color matches exactly.
i am a BM in a wedding this coming november when i will be anywhere from 4-8 weeks postpartum. i ordered my dress 2 sizes bigger and will (hopefully) get it taken in. i would recommend ordering the dress 2 sizes bigger and altering it as necessary.

Since you are MOH, it won't really matter if you color is slightly off from the rest of the BP.
I was TTC when my SIL was engaged, and wound up being 8 weeks pg when she wanted to order the dresses. She didn't get a maternity dress for me and I was HER MOH!
I would wait as long as possible to order the dress. You will prob only be a couple month pg for teh wedding if you order in JUne, but with the second one, it's so hard to tell how you will carry. That dress doesn't seem so maternity friendly and neither was mine
If you have have to order now, i would orderbigger so you have room to play with especially with your tummy.
With my second pg, I am carrying way lower and grew much quicker early in teh pg than with DD.

You really should order now- in a size or two bigger. Perhaps if you have the extra cash, order one in your normal size and one in a couple sizes larger. My MOH did that because she was planning on losing weight for my wedding (she lost 40 pounds by my wedding!).
It's not fair to the bride for you to order later and the colors not matching. Remember, this is her day.
