Anyone use Consumers Kitchens?

Has anyone used them for their kitchen cabinets? Went today and the price was good but wanted to see if any of you ladies have ordered with them. We were looking at Kraftmaid cabinets.

Re: Consumers Kitchens

We used them. I liked our sales rep but he is no longer there now. We got our Kraftmaid cabinets with Zodiaq countertops there as well as our Birch vanity set with over the john & silestone counter for the bathroom.

If you feel comfortable with your sales rep I would definitely recommend them.

Their version of the Kraftmaid cabinets had the drawers with the auto stop (I forget what they call it - if you ask them what feature this is they will show you).

If you buy the Kraftmaid at someplace like Home Depot you don't get this option.

Re: Anyone use Consumers Kitchens?

Had a horrible experience with them. We ordered our cabinets, and kept calling to check on them...not in, not in, etc.

After four months my DH went down to find out what the heck was going on....turns out they were NEVER ORDERED!!!! It was a total disaster.

Re: Anyone use Consumers Kitchens?

I know everyone says their prices are so great, but I didn't find that they were. For the cabinets alone they were okay, but to add all the extras we wanted (layered crown molding, wood oven hood, lazy suzans, pull out drawers, etc) they were actually more expensive than kitchen designers we went to. Most people I know who've used them have had one issue or another (last time I was there some man was yelling at them about something).

i went in there when i was remodeling the powder room. took a number, looked around (no salespeople on the floor to assist) and was still waiting for my number to be called 40 min later. needless to say, i walked out and will never return.

DH and I went in there and were not impressed. I asked the man simple questions and he could not answer me. If the salesman could not answer, what would happen when they came to do the work. I walked right out of there and never looked back or regretted it. HTH

used them for the kitchen in our last house. Loved them - start to finish. Price beat HD by thousands (Kraftmaid cabinets and Silestone).

We used them for our kitchen cabinets when we remodeled a little while ago and we had nothing but an overall good experience. I would definitely recommend them.

Re: Anyone use Consumers Kitchens?

Having worked as a Kitchen designer at HD for a few years, I can not tell you how many people came from consumers and was able to get the same Kraftmaind for thousands less. Yes it is true that Consumers have options that HD doesn't have but it is also true of the reverse as well.

We had an appt, even so had to wait over 30 min. A Thursday 11am appt. The salesman was not very helpful or personable. Prior to our appt we had them come out and measure. So after I selected the cabinets, crown, etc the salesman had us wait another 30+ minutes to give us an estimate.
I was not happy with them, and will not be using them.
Just my experience.

OH I FORGOT, the salesman when he did our plans moved my dishwasher from right next to my sink to the other side of the kitchen because he could not get the cabinet sizes in with the layout. I said I'm NOT moving my dishwasher! My DH said what about putting this here and extending this......the salesman was like, "oh ok"Chat Icon

Re: Anyone use Consumers Kitchens?

Don't bother going to Consumers unless you can either get an appointment on the weekend (and even then you may have to wait a bit if their prior appointments take longer than expected).

Or go during the week when it's less busy. Best time to go is during the week, during the day.

Consumers gets crowded with customers. And lets face it, when people are asking questions its not "how much is this" or "do you have this in stock". The sales people have to spend quite a bit of time with a customer to answer even the slightest questions.

I think your experience will really depend on your salesman. I found some are much better than others.

Re: Anyone use Consumers Kitchens?

I never ended up using them but I found the guy who was helping us design the space very uninspiring when it came to cabinet arrangement. If I went with what he said was the only way possible, I would have fewer cabinets and one or 2 that were actually useless (hard to explain) But I suppose that depends on the specific person. I can't vouch for the actual purchase...we went with HD on design and cabinets instead. (We had a contractor install them)
