Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
Im getting ready to wash them and sterilize everything and i just looked at the instructions. Does anyone else find them to be a little more overwhelming. So many pieces. I hope i can get them back together. Also did you buy a basket for the parts?

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
My sister uses them and I will be too. She has a basket for them and the parts just go in the basket and in the dishwasher. It's not that overwhelming - just make sure to have extras clean so that you don't have to clean them while the baby is crying for food

I use them. I bought a dishwasher basket, but they are also quite easy to wash by hand as well. I just use the bottle brush.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
I have been using them from day 1 and I just love them. My son is now almost 11 months old and we have had no problems. We started with the glass ones and now use the BPA Free ones. I did buy the dishwasher basket but have never used it. I just put everything in the top rack. Yes there are a few parts - only 2 actually - and after each feeding, I just take the inside tube apart and rinse with warm water and am good to go for the next feeding. It's not a big deal at all and you just get used to the one extra step. Well worth it in my opnion.

it gets much easier after you do it a few times. I just hand washed them b.c I found that they got cleaner but you don't have to do that.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
I use the Dr B's for my son. Honestly, it isn't that much more work to clean the two extra parts. You just get used to it. It is very simple and it really helped with my son's gas issues.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
I used them with DD and although they worked great, all the parts got to be a pain in the neck to clean. I picked out another kind this time that say they reduce colic as well without the zillion parts. I am going to give them a try first and if I have to, give in to Dr. Brown's again. I just dread all the cleaning you need to do.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
I used them with DD and will use them again with the next baby. The parts aren't as overwhelming as you would think. I never had to use the scrubbing brush that came with them. I would just hand wash them after each use and boil the bottles and parts nightly. That was my way----you don't have to boil them but it kept them clean for almost a year doing it that way. There was no discoloration or build up at all.

I used them with my first child and loved them at first. I'm going to try something different with this child. I honestly thought they were a huge hassle.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
one of my sisters' used them and I have used them while babysitting my neice. At first with all of the parts I thought it was annoying. Now I am use to it and I liked them and going to be using them as well.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
Once you get used to it it's not a big bother at all.... I have a couple of them - I bought them when I was on the neverending search for the bottle that would offer DD the least gas..... I have the Munchkin dishwasher basket, and just throw all the pieces in there.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
Another piece of advice:
Over the past couple of days I noticed DS hasn't been taking his bottles well. Basically in a nutshell, I figured out that the nipples were the culprit....he wasn't getting any milk out.
I went to BRU today and bought a bunch of the level 2 size nipples. I recommend those of you getting DB bottles to get these as well to have on hand. DS is not even a month yet.........

you'll get a hang of all the parts in no time! i've been using dr. brown's with my son since he was a couple months old and still do (he is 15 months, takes 2 bottles a day). i DEFINITELY recommend the basket. it's really cheap and makes the cleaning that much easier!

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
They are really very easy to use and it becomes a routine to put them together and take them apart. I'm so happy that they have specific dishwasher baskets for them now, because I had to have a specific method to get all those little parts in a regular dishwasher basket for the last two kids.

As the other girls said it just becomes second nature after time. I did throw them in the dishwasher whenever I could though! Def. get a basket to hold the parts in!

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
we used dr. browns for a bit with my dd, they were a pain in the butt to clean. I used that little scrubby brush they give you and used that clean the airvent and nipple, then put in dishwasher box thing with rest of bottle. I returned all bottles when they were taking back at BRUs b/c they had BPA in them.
I didnt notice how much difficulty my dd had with those bottles until we switched to Born free. She wouldnt finish a bottle, and think it was b/c the airvent they had in them was making it difficult for her to drink and would get fustrated with. Born free love these bottles and using again with baby #2.. and soooo easy to clean.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
I used them for DD and was very happy with them, but I will admit that the 2 extra pieces did get cumbersome, especially since I was also cleaning pump parts & supplies at the same time. But they really were the only bottles that DD did well with.
I usually washed everything by hand. I was kind of afraid that the dishwasher would make the plastic of the bottles look cloudy. Once I did start putting them in the dishwasher, I would use the little brush that comes with the bottles to clean those 2 little parts first then put everything in a basket. I used the brush because I was just afraid there would be a little film or something left in there that the dishwasher water could not "scrub" out.
I'm not really sure what I'm going to do this time, because I'm really not too fond of the cloudy look of the non-BPA ones. I'm considering glass maybe. Or maybe I'll try the drop-ins.

Re: Anyone using Dr. brown bottles? BTDT mom welcome as well
I gave it a try.. for weeks.
Pain the butt to clean and such a mess. This part and that part goes here with the cute little brush to wash that part, etc
honestly it was just NOT worth the time and effort. AJ has gas issues and this really did not help a single bit so it was really a shameful waste
I really felt bad because it was a gift
but no.. it was not for us.

Love the Dr. Brown's bottles. I cleaned by hand with no issues and also used the dishwasher (with basket). I will absolutely use them again with this baby!
