Dr. Brown's Bottles

I am currenlty using Avent bottles however Sara spits up every bottle and they leak. I bought one Dr. Browns bottle and she did not spit up at all Chat Icon Chat Icon Yay finally a feeding thats not all over her. I think I will switch to them

My question is :

Are there different nipple sizes and if so whick is good for a 2 1/2 month old?

HOw do you clean these bottles they dont fit in the Avent steamer I have?

Re: Dr. Brown's Bottles

I love Dr. Browns. My DD almost never spit up with them. They have different nipple sizes. You probably need slow flow or medium at the most. I don't remember when I switched nipples. ( Right now she uses level 3 fast flow- she is 18 mos.) Right now I run them through the dishwasher b/c it has a 'sanitize' setting. I know I don't have to sanitize anymore but I still do.Chat Icon Hope this helped a little. BRU has all sizes of nipples.

The box said to switch from #1 to #2 at three months old.

I would go with the Level 1 size and I clean mine in the dishwasher.

Alyson is 4 months old and still using the slowest flow (the nipple that comes with the Dr Brown's bottles when you buy them) and she is fine with it.

I wash mine in warm soapy water and when the dishwasher is ready to run, I throw them in there.

Re: Dr. Brown's Bottles

Speaking of switching nipples- my DD is 3 mos now and we still use the level 2 nipples........ How do you know it is time to switch (I know the box says 3 mos) but i've read some people keep on using Level 1. Should I try to switch anyway? TIA

When my son was just over three months I switched to the #2 nipples. I knew he was okay because he could handle the flow of the formula without choking/gagging, leakage from the sides of his mouth, or spitting up (more than usual). Also, if they are ****ing really hard and squeaking the bottle, they are ready to move on. At 6 months I will move onto #3, unless he seems ready beforehand.
