Re: Anyone watching CBS Channel 2 "Doctors" about vaccinations?
it was so sad.. that Mom talking about the DTAP making her child have convulsions and brain damage..
And the other mom crying while explaining how she couldnt in her own judgement vaccinate her younger children because of the reaction her oldest had to the MMR and chicken pox vaccinations..
I have to agree with her about "one size doesn't fit all" about vaccinations.. im still watching my daughter like a hawk since her vaccinations yesterday.

I have read several books and the DTAP shot actually scares me more than the MMR. Vaccinations are also linked to things we develope in our adulthood such as MS. It is VERY scary!

Re: Anyone watching CBS Channel 2 "Doctors" about vaccinations?
I did not see the show, but I'd like to share some thoughts.
There is a tremendous amount of information out there about vaccinations and the possible effects (long and short term) of administering them to our children. Let's just say that all of the studies are truly accurate. What do we do? I am not trying to cause drama, but seriously, what do we do?
These vaccinations were created as a response to life threatening/altering diseases/disorders in our children. As time went on and vaccinations and other treatments were created, fewer children got sick and fewer children died. We rarely hear the words "infant mortality rate" any more for a reason.
For those of us (and I do not always include myself in this grouping) who seriously subscribe to the idea that vaccinations might be harmful to our babies, how do we decide to give or not to give? Do we risk our kids getting a possibly fatal disease or do we risk the effects?
I am not passing judgment on anyone's decisions - far from it. When we have to second and third guess our choices as parents, we can go absolutely nuts. Shoot I question whether or not I should let Abby sleep with a pacifier. I think we all just have to go with our hearts and our instincts and do our best.

I agree there's a TON of info
More info isn't always better or making our decisions as parents easier that's for SURE!
I'm not against vaccinations as a principal but I agree with the woman and doctor on this show that say a one size fits all isn't working and we should have the right to delay shots without being penalized by the state or nation.
I won't say I don't CARE about Autism and other side affects that are being linked to vaccinations.. of course I do but like they said, there are studies that link them and others that don't.. who can really tell?
But what I do care about is it feels like too much too young. Why CANT we just slow them down or spread them out?

You can. You just have to find a ped that would do it.

Re: Anyone watching CBS Channel 2 "Doctors" about vaccinations?
You absolutely can. I have G on a very conservative schedule b/c he runs high fevers consistently for many things - viruses, teething, a cold..... so I take a very very cautious approach to his vaccines. I also had terrible reactions to some of the boosters I got later in life, like the HepB and the MMR they made me get to go to college. THIS is why I chose to go the conservative route. My first pediatrician actually YELLED at me and told me that I was putting DS and all the kids around him in GRAVE DANGER by not getting the HepB. Grave danger, really? I walked out of that office and never looked back. My new ped is more than willing to delay and split shots as long as I remain educated and make the decision WITH her, not instead of her.... G has been doing well and we are happy with the schedule he is on.

Re: Anyone watching CBS Channel 2 "Doctors" about vaccinations?
I missssssssssssssssed it!!!!!!!!!!!!
is there a link anywhere?
I so see this thread getting out oif control...its never civil. I will tell you this. my friend knows someone that was one of the first to be awarded money due to vaccination damage. If he was not oin the room to see the child stop breathing the doctor said he would have been labeled a SIDS baby. I still think the majority of it is the almighty dollar. I have very enlightening controversial links but I never post them. I do not feel like being flamed. Anyone interested cam Fm me

ITA with that. My DD got all her shots and she was/is fine, but I have a friend whose DD got the same shots the same day , she had a terrible reaction to one of the vaccines and she was in the hospital for a week. They still don't know what the long term effects are going to be.

Re: Anyone watching CBS Channel 2 "Doctors" about vaccinations?
I have very strong opinions on vaccinations when it comes to my DC for a number of reasons.
What I don't understand is why so many people AND so many peds feel the need to be so arrogant and downright nasty about the issue when reactions are REAL and they are SO different for each child. I feel it is downright horrible for people to be so judgemental about another mother's choice whether or not to vaccinate her child.

well said, especially if you dont have a child who was possibly damaged from them. My son has HIGH levels of Tetanus in his body, and stopped babbling and cooing after his Dtap vaccines...so WHY is that?? Luckily with some traetments he has been getting and therapy, he is now babling up a storm, and finally said "daddy" for the FIRST time
I wish I spread them out. This is why Im delaying the MMR for as long as possible.

Oh yeah, grave danger cause your DC is going to share his drug needles & have sex on his playdates!!! REAL Nice Dr to yell at you, no matter what your opinions are!!!
Transmission of hepatitis B virus results from exposure to infectious blood or body fluids containing blood. Possible forms of transmission include (but are not limited to) unprotected sexual contact, blood transfusions, re-use of contaminated needles. Or Mother passing on to child.
