ANyone who has stripped paint...
I have two columns outside my house that were cracking with paint, so i decided to strip them down to the wood and then repaint them. Well what a bit*h it has been. I have done 3 layers and still have patches of paint on the columns. There was about two layers on the wood.
My question - can i just sand it down and repaint it with the little problem areas or will that make my paint job look crappy.
This is the last do it myself project for a long time. What a mess and PIA it has been.

citristrip. It's orange color and smells like oranges and is safe for you (except wear heavy duty gloves). I just am so sick of doing it.......and i can't find any answers on the internet.

I would just sand them --- that's what we did in my old co-op.

Re: ANyone who has stripped paint...
I spent this past weekend doing this. What a nightmare. I was so happy to see this post because I thought it was just me. I used the citrustrip and it did not work very well. Then I tried some other stuff they recommended at Home Depot and it did not work much better. I am stripping the molding around the bedroom doors and there is 5 layers of paint to get through!
I think I am going to try to get most of it off and then sand them.
Another project I grossly underestimated:(

Are you keeping them as wood. I plan on just painting over it so i am hoping it won't be a problem. Uh i came home tonight and just looked got disgusted at the site of them and the mess on my steps from the paint.
Every project in this house that i think will take an hour lasts for days. It stinks.

No, never heard of it. How much do they go for and do they work?
