Re: Anyone Work in Connetquot School District??
I applied and mini-interviewed at the job fair.
I have heard wonderful things about the district.
They are known for liking very professional attire and do not like teachers to discuss "taboo" subjects (sex/drugs/etc) with students as a part of discussions.
I hear they are great to work for and pay very well.

Re: Anyone Work in Connetquot School District??
They recently just settled not having a contract for I believe 3 years. It was a pretty bitter 3 years from what I was told. I know they also haven't passed their budget a couple of times in recent years which means they may have had some lay offs at some point though I am not sure.

Re: Anyone Work in Connetquot School District??
I, personally, don't know but a friend of mine works in the district. All I know is that when teachers there go out on maternity leave, they LOSE THEIR SENIORITY!!! This is not the case in my district.
My friend is up a creek with her job (she's been teaching for 8 years) because she's out with twins now and she may not have a job when she gets back in September.

I think the protocol for discussing (or not discussing) "taboo subjects" is the same in all districts. I don't know of any district at this point in time that will allow teachers to openly discuss political views, abortion, sex, drugs, etc ANYWHERE.
As far as the professional attire goes? BRAVO!!! I don't like seeing teachers walking around on a regular school day wearing jeans. Not unless it's a field trip day or a test day.

I agree. As far as the "taboo subjects" go, I am referring to things in literature. For example, I taught Midsummer Night's Dream this year. It is full of drugs and sex, but you do not have to discuss it. The kids don't "know" for sure that the "magic" alludes to drugs. In my district, teachers talk about it w ith them. IMO, you should not bring it up with them, but some teachers do. In Connetquot, you wouldn't bring it up.
I do understand that most, if not all, districts don't want "taboo subjects" I should have said that they are rather strict about it instead.
