Anyone's administration require you to have "celebrations" and invite parents?
We are expected to have several of these this year to get parents more involved. Anyone do this or have any ideas for this? I know I could do a celebration at the end of a writing unit and the students can read their work, or after Science Fair projects are due they can present their projects. What else??? I teach 3rd grade.

What about a math day? After you teach a skill, invite the parents in to do different math activities/centers with the kids all pertaining to the skill (games, etc.).

I've had "Card Fridays" once a month when I invite 1 guest/child to come & play a new card game (related to math/critical thinking) I teach at that time.
How about a Thanksgiving celebration?

Our school schedules every class an "Author Apprentice Day" and students share their stories or poems with parents in our rooms (We publish these in hard-cover books, but you could still do a story share)...I feel it takes the focus off you because the students are reading a story based on the writing genre completed.
