Anyone's DH have a low sperm count or motility?

DHs father and brother both have low sperm counts (and maybe motility issues as well. DH was conceived after 5 months of trying (MIL found out she was PG the day she was going in for an IUI). BIL and SIL have been trying for 2 1/2 years.

I'm going to the doc in January to get a script for DH to have a SA done. I have a feeling we're going to have this issue as well.

Does anyone have any experience with this? What has the process been? I'm just trying to see what I should expect as we move forward in case this is an issue for us.

We have MF infertility. My husband has slight morphology issues and potentially low volume. We conceived our son naturally after 2 months of trying but we were unsuccessful conceiving #2 on our own. We started testing after 6 months of trying unsuccessfully. Month #10 we did IUI which failed and then we moved straight to IVF because IUI is not as successful with certain MF issues. I am now pregnant after our first round of IVF.

The good news is that if there is nothing wrong with you then your chances of getting pregnant thru IVF are very high. They gave me a 60% chance of it working each time and they told me that it was about 90% that I would get pregnant thru IVF eventually.

We also have majof MF issues. My husband was diagnosed with testicular cancer a few years ago and was also diagnosed with a varicocele. He is doing very well now, but we are dealing with very low numbers all around the board.


We have been through a lot of SAs and he also had surgery for the varicocele about a year ago. While his numbers improved from about 2m to about 5m we have been trying now for awhile and have not had any success.
