I'm the Den Leader for DS's den. It starts in 1st grade. We have a booth at Open House night at the elementary school to recruit boys. The school may have some contact info. Some Packs meet at the school, some at a nearby church, firehouse, hall, etc.

It's got lots of useful info, and explains quite a bit.
The den is made up of 5-10 boys, depending on the Pack and # of boys. It's age-based, so DS will be with boys the same age as him. The Pack is made up of all the boys, from age 6-10 inclusive. The den is where most of the stuff is done.
It's pretty much based on the school year, so it usually goes from Sept-June, give or take. We have stuff going on in the summer, like an overnight camping trip, Adventureland, July 4th parade, etc.

My son's school sent out a flyer at the end of the school year for the open houses for a bunch of the local packs. Mine is thru the local church. None is run thru the school my son attends. It starts in 1st grade.
Golden Rod - we should chat - I am a Tiger Scout leader. 1st time doing this. Could use new ideas.

DS is a Cub Scout I am his Den Leader yes& the pack committee chair. We love the program. The boys learn and do so much. If you like I can track down the contact people for Packs in your area, just let me know what town you are in.
