Cub Scouts
My son wants to join and I missed the sign up day. Not sure how I did that when the date was right in front of my face :0 There is no phone number or name on the sheet but it tells you when the first meeting is. Do you think it would be ok to show up at that meeting and see if he can still join?

I'm sure he could still join. My DS wants to join too but I think it will be hard to add it to his schedule.

Re: Cub Scouts
Is it through the school? If so, I would call the school Monday and ask them for information on how to sign up. I wouldn't wait for the first meeting bc they might have already sent out requirements on what to wear etc.

I was just going to say great idea but they are closed on Monday and the meeting is on Tuesday anyway--

I know because now I have 2 kids in activities. My dd has Cadettes the same night, different schools, different times. She is done with religion though this year, this month so that helps as he just started.

Re: Cub Scouts
Just show up, they won't turn you away. You will have plenty of time to get a uniform.

Re: Cub Scouts
If the meeting is a Pack Meeting you can just show up and speak to the Cub Master or the Chairperson and they will set you up.
Here is a link to the Pequott District - Merrick, Bellmore, Massapequa, Wantagh, Seaford just to give you an idea of some of things scouts do. There is a link on the top of the page that will give you links to other Districts.Pequott District

Re: Cub Scouts
yes. Most cub scouts don't get a huge turn out anymore b/c there is so much more for kids to do with regard to clubs and sports...

Re: Cub Scouts
I signed DS up for Tiger Cubs (the first level of Cub Scouts, for 1st graders). I also signed up to be the Den leader for his group, since nobody else volunteered. I've been in Scouts almost my entire childhood, and I want to stay involved with DS as well.
You can definitely sign up whenever you want. It's not like school with set semesters or anything. They have enrollment periods, but that's just when they try and hit the parents up at the beginning of the school year. Our Pack Leader told me that most of the dens start out small, then when the boys talk to their classmates throughout the year about all the cool stuff they are doing, other boys start signing up.
