Anyone's kid need to wear a helmet?
We just got back from the pediatrician. He said due to DS's asymmetrical head we have to go to a pediatric neurologist and he may have to wear a helmet.  It is just cosmetic but I am still upset.
What can I expect at the ped neurologist? What is the deal with the helmet - how long would he have to wear it? Is it 24/7? Does it bother them? Thanks.

Just went through this!!!
DS wore it from Sept-January
Honestly I was devastated at first but it all worked out
i can give you all my dr information and send u cute pics of DS in his helmet
now his head is perfect!!!

DS did NOT mind it at all!!!!
They wear it all the time (24/7) except at night I took it off for an hr to give him a bath and clean the helmet

My nephew had to wear a helmet for 2 months (from when he was 4-6 mos old) because he had an asymmetrical head. He wore the helmet without any problems and now he's fine. My sister did what PP did -- had him wear it 23 hours/day and she decorated it with cool stickers and colors so he'd be more interested.
He's completely fine now with a beautifully shaped head. Perfect.
PS My fave sticker was, "Helmet laws suck".

I actually was given a catalog of helmets to chose from as far as designs
my son had racecars--I wish I had a pic on this computer!!

My twin nephews have to wear them. Their heads were REALLY flat and they are so much better now.

We are going through it now and I ditto everything that Jen said. It was a MUCH easier transition for DD than it was for mommy

my nephew had to for a few months (he was a twin also!). It really didnt bother him, and it was SOOO adorable! He's 5 now and his head is in great shape!
