We have an indoor electric grill. It's not as good as a real bbq, but it serves it's purpose until we can afford a house.

A lot of co-ops that have terraces have rules against BBQing anyways.

Re: Apartment/Co-op People without a terrace question

My Co-op permitted BBQing in the yard area as long as there was always an adult tending the grill when lit, and it was covered and pushed into a corner when not in use, from Daylight Savings springtime to fall.

Rest of the year the bbq had to be kept indoors.

we lived in an upstairs apartment, and grilled on the downstairs neighbor's little piece of lawn in exchange for making him whatever we were cooking.

You can get crazy and grill in the parking lot!!DH did that, then management came and spoke to him.

Thats probably because you have a garden apartment and the BBQ is on the ground level.

I was referring to people that have terraces in hi-rise buildings. I haven't found a co-op in one of these that openly allows BBQing on their terraces.

I could be wrong though.

We have a grill pan, but it's not exactly the same.

We don't BBQ, but we managed to go to enough BBQs this summer to make up for it! Chat Icon

There is a special place where we can Bar-b-q but I don't feel like walking to it. I have a grill that I bought from target. It's like the George Forman grill but it doesn't have a top to close...it's just an open grill. It does the trick and then it goes right into the dishwasher!!Chat Icon

No you are right. When we were looking at co-ops and condos they always said no BBQ on the terraces. In one place, there was an area on the lawn for everyone to use for BBQing right next to the pool and basketball courts.
