apartment inspection
Hi everyone,
I got a note from my landlord that an inspection has to be done at the apartment. What exactly is the inspector looking for? for example I have some furniture against the base board heating, do I have to move that? or is this more a check-up on the landlord to see if there is a fire alarm/co2 detector?
any help would be great?
TIA!

Re: apartment inspection
i would keep everything as is....if they have an issue, they will let you know what it is and give a warning/recommendation. i would not stress over trying to guess what they are looking for at this time

Re: apartment inspection
Do you live in an apartment building?
When they inspect ours they are just checking for safety issues--general cleanliness, (hoarder type stuff) smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are working, and in my building we have rules about pets and also carpet so they check for that as well.
It usually only takes a few minutes--and if you have any issues in the apartment, speak up, might as well let them know what you need done while they are there.

I rent a house and the inspector came a month ago. He was only interested in the smoke detectors as they need to be checked every few years. He looked at nothing else. Don't worry about it.
But, I did rent an illegal apt a few years ago and inspector came b/c someone reported my apt. In that case the landlord had to rip out my kitchen and add an egress door in my bedroom. If your landlord hasn't told you he needs to make some modifications, you are fine.
