are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
And what about insomnia? I am exhausted but I do not fall asleep.
Some of my anxiety is about whether this pregnancy will stick. Some of it is about work and life. Just in the few days that I have known of my BFP, I have thought about all the things we will need to do--buy maternity clothes, furnish another room, go to doctor's appointments, get my work ready and organized, decide whether I will work full or part time, figure out finances, find a day care, find a pediatrician, argue with all the opinionated people in my life about everything from breastfeeding to what color to paint the nursery, learn more about caring for an infant, register for gifts.
Ok, maybe I just needed to write this up. I feel better. I just suddenly thought of all the people who would trade places with me right now. I have to take it one day at a time, I guess.

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
I have been that way since the beginning - it does get better, but if you are a worrier, like me, you will still feel it! Try to relax, though, and what I do is keep reminding myself that I'm not the first person or the only person feeling this way & you can't go by all the "rules" that are out there. Our parents/grandparents, etc. were pregnant without the knowledge & testing we have now, and for the most part, did ok!

I'm still anxious and feel overwhelmed and still worry about this one sticking! I'm almost 15weeks. I think it's normal! Take a deep breath relax and enjoy! You'll be fine! CONGRATS!!

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
The first trimester without a doubt was the biggest emotional roller coaster for me. I was up & down....could not sleep from anxiety, then I had to change jobs at about 9 weeks since my Dr told me the train ride was getting to be too much for me....it was a whirlwind. Now I kind of look back & giggle. I thought that every pain, hot flash, chill or new symptom was something wrong, but then if the symptoms got better I thought then that meant something was wrong too. I would call my Drs office on a daily basis to the point where the guy at the answering service knew my name & phone number.
So yeah...totally normal

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
Welcome to pregnancy!!!!! I try to do things in order. We are always afraid that the baby will be lost. As for everything else, I come here. We plan to register around 20 weeks, after we find out the sex. Until then, we are clearing things out of the 2nd bedroom to make room. Pediatrician?!?!? Haven't even thought about it and don't plan to. That's later.
Try to prioritize what you need first!!

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
Yes, I can relate. 3 things happened within 2 weeks of each other - we went into contract on a house, I got my BFP and I got promoted. When I first found out I was preggo I was really concerned about what I should do and what I shouldnt do, but now that I have been to the doctor 2x, I feel alot better about it. I am most anxious about my promotion bc I am so busy as it is now, I don't know how I am going to be able to handle a bigger workload. And since I got a really good raise, it makes it that much harder to think about quitting and becoming a SAHM. I am not sure if I even want to, but now the raise just makes the decision harder.
And I cannot sleep at night because my mind is constantly racing - and bc I have to pee all the time!

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
This is why we are given 9 (10) months until birth!!
Try to relax and enjoy it. I was exactly the same way in the beginning - positive I would m/c again. Lying awake thinking about everything I need to do -- in the next 9 (10) months.
Make a list for yourself of what you need to do, and a timeline of when you want to have that done by. Time goes really slowly, while you are waiting to pass that 12 week mark. But you think it is going to go so fast and you need to get everything done right away.
You don't. So breathe, deeply...and calmly....and stay positive....and before you know it, you will be feeling more secure and like you have all the time in the world until this baby comes!

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
The first trimester for me was the worst. I felt like crap. I was always so worried about one thing of another. I thought that I would be miserable the entire pregnancy but honestly - once I was in my second trimester it all turned for the better (Although I was still stick for a few weeks) I felt much better once I was past the scary part!

Awww hang in there! It is a huge life change and you are bound to think and drive yourself a little crazy. BUT try to follow your doctor's instructions on the do's and dont's and that's all you can really do.

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
i hear you!! i am 8 weeks and pregnancy has been quite the roller coaster ride for me as well.
the hardest part is coming to terms with the fact that i will not be feeling "myself" for... the 1st trimester? 1st and 3rd trimester? ALL 3 TRIMESTERS?? the uncertainty of it all is unsettling in itself.
in my mind i keep on coming back to the reward at the end... the baby i've wanted for so long!!!! it's the only thing that keeps me sane.

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
For me, the anxiety came hand in hand with my BFP. I'm an anxious person to begin with and honestly, as excited as I am to be having a baby, I'm just as scared (sometimes more scared than excited!) Everything from, " will this pregnancy stick?" to "how am I going to do this?" racks my brain. DH is a blessing in helping me to stay calm (as are my mom and dad )
It makes me feel better to see that other girls are experiencing simliar feelings - I guess that makes it quite normal afterall.
Hang in there

Thanks. Right now I am exhausted, either from being preggo or from tossing and turning last night.

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
I agree. My mind has been racing, especially the last few days. I just cried to DH that we didn't have a dishwasher and we wouldn't be moved into our house yet and our child would have to drink out of bottles that weren't clean enough I'm better now, until the next outburst.

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
I am a wreck usually in general. I am @ little past 10 weeks right now and have chilled out a little bit lately.
I am high risk and I keep reminding myself that everything is being done for this pregnancy that possibly can.
I also have been praying a bit more.
I am HOPING to be able to enjoy this time soon and keep my nerves in check

Re: are lots of people very anxious and overwhelmed in the early weeks?
Wow..this was so helpful to read. I am just 4 weeks and while i am so excited i am really anxious about mcing again. I have to keep telling myslef the doctors are monitoring me and whatever is meant to be =). I just miss that blissful naiveity I had with my first BFP but I know i really do cherish this so much more because of that too..thanks again..being able to read others thoughts helps soo much
