Are their any trees/large shrubs that love LOTS of water?
We need to fix the drainage in our backyard but it is basically muddy even with a little bit of rainfall. We have a high water table too. We probably won't be able to fix the drainage until next summer so I was wondering if their are any plants that might help with this.

I can check out my books when I get home and let you know.
You may find information that points to bamboo but DON'T DO IT!! It is impossible to get ride of and spreads like wildfire.
I'll let you know later.

Re: Are their any trees/large shrubs that love LOTS of water?
Found one! Birch trees like moist, rich soil. I actually have one planted close to the street, ignore my husband walking in front of my picture:
It is supposed to be susceptible to the birch leaf miner and bronze birch borer. Mine isn't showing any signs of pests yet though.
There are other birches that don't weep obviously.
Another one is the Carolina Silverbell. It has white pretty flowers in spring and doesn't get that large.
That's it for trees (at least from my books). The only shrub I could find is Skimmia but it likes shade. The list of water loving perennials:
Sweet flag Reed grass Marsh marigold Turtlehead Umbrella plant Iris Ligularia Skunk cabbage Forget-me-not Rodgersia Pitcher plant
Hope this helps!

My pleasure.
If you do plant something, update with pictures!
