Are there any good things about RSofNY??
My obgyn recommended Dr. Trivax and after months on debating on whether I should go through with this whole process, I finally decided to call for a consult. Now I'm reading all horror stories about this practice and im in even more complete panic mode. Please tell me that there are good things to this practice?

Unfortunately I think you are going to get the "run now" from a lot of women on this board. I truly believe that this process sucks and is so hard so why put yourself in a position to make it harder. I don't know what your infertility story is but they are definitely a basic cookie cutter place that do not think outside the box. For 3 years I was their patient and never did simple testing on me, always thought it was MF and low and behold I have low ovarian reserve and basically had no time left to get pregnant at 34. If you choose to go there I would do a ton of research on your own, bring a LOt of questions with you and make sure they don't spin your concerns. Trivax has great bedside manner imo but not a great doctor. I believe he was actually thinking of leaving there bc the place is a nightmare. Good luck and sorry if I scared you.

Ugh. Thanks for your honesty. Our issue is really just genetics. Dh and I are carriers for cystic fibrosis, and if we have a child naturally, there is a 1 in 4 chance of having a sick baby. I think I will do consults with some of the other dr's spoken about on this board too. Thanks

Re: Are there any good things about RSofNY??
I've had some good, and not so good experiences with this practice. You can go back and read previous posts about them, and you'll get a mixed review. Those that have gotten pregnant by them are singing their praises, and those who have not, are voicing their experiences. It really comes down to how YOU feel about them. Go for your consultation, see how the practice is and how comfortable you are with the doctor. If they are quick to give you a plan without taking the preliminary tests first, then I would go elsewhere.
Good luck!!

Re: Are there any good things about RSofNY??
I was a patient there- I liked Dr. Trivax but that's about it. Some of the other doctors have terrible bedside manner. I saw Trivax for my consult and then a few other times- you never really see the same doctor and you may get other doctors that do your procedures. I will say that I have seen ladies on here happy with the other office locations but I went to the Mineola office (mainly because it was close to my job). The waits are very long, sometimes I would panic because I would make a 7:30am monitoring appt and at almost 9 i still wasn't out of there and had to be at work... the last straw was I was supposed to get an IUI done at 8:30am (my DH dropped off at 7:30) and at 12:30 I was still waiting!! Finally I guess they realized I was still there waiting and one of the doctors just came in quickly to do it (almost seemed bothered). No surprise it didn't work... I also found with me they did not push to do testing (did not even bring up doing an HSG prior to IUI's) so I feel like if there are issues that need investigating and further looking into, then another RE that will think outside the box is your best bet.

I go there. It is a very large practice & you have to be your own advocate & stay on top of things. I've had nurses, sonographers & staff who have been good to me there as I was with them for over a year. I've read recently that they have a high turnover rate but I just went back there to get the ball rolling for #2 & many of the core staff is still there. The monitoring hours there were good for me because they're so early & the practice is open 7 days a week which was also a plus. With that being said, I've had staff there that wasn't the greatest & I've made sure to ask for my doctor during these incidents. I know girls on here who have had horrible experiences & I agree the practice is overwhelmed in size.I would go for the consult & see how you feel. GL!

I went there because it was the only place my insurance covered. I read tons of horror stories here, but to be honest with you, i never had a bad experience there.
Everyone was very nice to me very attentive, unfortunately my IUI failed and I'm currently taking a break, once I'm ready to start I will go back there.
Good luck.

I was a patient there in 2004. had my son from there but I pretty much took charge on what I wanted to do. I wouldn't go back though. my friend is going through a nightmare with them now but she loves the dr and wont leave.

There are good & bad with every practice and you really have to go and make your own judgement call. Be your own advocate no matter which facility you choose.
I was a patient and had 1 IVF fail, my FET resulted in my daughter that I lost to IC and my 2nd FET resulted in my now 15 month old son.
I plan on going back next year for another IVF cycle but I know what I am getting when I go there. I also like Dr. Saketos which most people do not like on here but for me she was really comforting and really did her best personally to make sure my lining was where it should be for my 2nd FET because she wanted to make sure everything was optimal for transfer.

I totally agree there is good and bad where ever you may go. I was a Dr Trivax patient and had success under his care twice (almost 22 month old and currently 30 weeks pregnant) that's the good . I had to be my own advocate though and push him. Not a fan of the nurses except Dani at the Mineola office. Front desk staff is terrible though. As long as you're vocal and speak up if there is something you don't agree with he will listen (at least in my case).
Good Luck

I agree I want to add, I had no success with them but that is not why I do not like them. My stories are endless.
Be careful, do not believe anything the staff say to you especially the billing dept

I currently see Dr. Trivax. I really like him and i like all of the nurses. I've never really had an issue. I did an ivf cycle last month and a different dr did it, and I wasn't to fond of her so I spoke after the fact to Dr. Trivax and he said going forward he will do all my procedures. If your unhappy with something speak up they have been very accommodating. The hours work for me and its 5 minutes from my job so I'm staying with him despite what I have read on here.

Not always the case. I had same issue with female dr there. He was my dr- and he was supposed to oversee my file and procedures- he is in Mineola office and Brooklyn office so committing to my procedures was impossible. I can't see him committing to doing all your procedures because they are on a rotating schedule. And I did speak up there several times- I was there for two years because it was convenient to my job and the hours were convenient but in the end it was not worth the stress.im glad you are having a good experience but for the most part many of have not. The last straw for us was when we were in a post IVF failure consult with trivax and he said well you have insuranc so you can keep going without having to worry- yet he didn't change any medicine protocol and didn't push for an hsg- which I wind up,pushing for and it wound up finding something.

Re: Are there any good things about RSofNY??
The nurses and sonographers are great and really treat you like a person and not a number. I ran into one nurse a few months ago and I had not been there in over a year and she still knew me. Once a sonographer realized that I had a long wait in the room for a dr and she came and hung out with me until the dr finally came, little things like that mean a lot to me.
The IVFnurses you see at retrieval and transfer are also wonderful, I am now going to a another well known practice and the ivf nurses there , while not bad, don't hold a candle to RSofNYs .
With that being said the drs missed a major diagnosis for me, I don't think it is because they are bad drs so much as they are spread a little too thin. I spent two years running around there as "unexplained" and I am actually pretty explained.
Since you are going in with a clear diagnosis you should be fine, but if you do not find success don't linger and go elsewhere where they will make more of an effort to diagnose you.

Re: Are there any good things about RSofNY??
Feel them out. I saw Sung. Was ordered all the correct tests early and she was knowledgable. Not sweet or fluffy but she knows her stuff. Trivax is under Sung in that office so he will never override her or question if she overrides him. He's nice but does not hold full weight there. My case was not a normal one. I had failed IVFs there and SIRM for the same reason. Both offices had their issues but RS has more office issues like mixing up charts and not returning calls. You will have to be on top of them and your info. Their sono techs were great. I got to know them well. There was one who couldn't find my baby's sac and sent me into a panic so that was not good. The usual sonographer ended up finding it two days later. Phlebotomists always found my veins instantly. Very important for people like me with tiny veins! Front desk were good when I was cycling. I know two were pregnant and not sure if they returned bc people have had horrible experiences. I had a very good experience with them when I found out I was Preg naturally and could not find anyone to monitor me. I was spotting and crying on the phone and they fit me in immediately to do bloodwork, full CBC and sono. Sung actually kept me sane those few weeks bc I was hysterical and a nervous wreck with a hematoma. Point is I didn't get pregnant with them, nor was I a current patient (left them for SIRM 5 months prior- Dr. T did not want to monitor me) and they still took me in and treated me well. I appreciated that. The office def has issues and has gotten too big for its own good. Discuss your concerns, educate yourself and write down all info they tell you. You may agree or disagree with us.

I'm not sure where you are located, but you need to talk to Dr. Stelling. He is the head of the PGD program at RS of NY, and as CF carriers, that is what you will need. He is exceedingly knowledgable, and also thorough with preliminary testing (in my experience). He is a bit of a fast-talker, but if you are comfortable with that, he's very open to answering questions. RS of NY uses Reprogenetics as their PGD provider, and they were thorough as well.
If you decide not to go with RS of NY, I recommend Dr. Kang at Cornell. I didn't end up cycling with her for other reasons, but she seemed excellent, comes highly recommended, and Cornell's lab is superior.

I agree that the IVF nurses were so good to me- I have been with RMA and now Dr. T and RS of NY treated me the best while there. Although Dr.T's office called me the next day after retrieval to see how I was feeling etc. I never got that from other practices. I was a tough case-They seem to treat the well explained causes and not so much the unexplained. Dr. Trivax didn't so much after the failed cycle as far as change and that's what bothered me the most- He said Idont need any of those tests (biopsy, HSG0 but turns out thank god I pushed it and did because that is where my issue was.

I don't think people have to hate a practice in order for them to leave. I've left many practices that I liked but always needed extra eyes, ears and opinions.

FWIW, Friends of ours are also both carriers of CF. She did unfortunately go thru 3 losses but wound up with 2 healthy children naturally. No IVF. She was never told she needed it and never considered it.

Are there any good things about RSofNY??
I liked them while I was a patient there but my case was very simple. It was MF infertility. But after the fact they were charging my insurance or my husband frozen sperm even though we said to discard it once we got pregnant. They told me I never signed that form but I remember doing it. I had to fight for them to stop charging the insurance. Now I am going to LI IVF and I needed my chart from them. There were a few things on the chart they never told me about. They said I didn't ovulate on my own every month which was never the case I always ovulated and took the tests each month to prove it while doing IUI's. I am really happy I switched this time around. So far LI IVF has been very accommodating and very nice. The staff is excellent and really on top of everything. They double checked my insurance for me and my nurse calls me with any update.
