I never counted because I felt him all the time.

Re: are we supposed to count movements...?
I don't count because my child is a ninja. My dr. makes a point every week though to say that if I don't feel her move for a little bit, try everything to get her going (eat/drink something sweet, move around, push on my belly, etc.) and if she doesn't get going, to call right away.

hmm i guess my concern is.... if its so important to count and let ob know....then how do obs know you are okay inbetween appointments if you can only infrequently feel the baby due to the placenta? this blows

Re: are we supposed to count movements...?
My dr always asks me if I feel the baby moving. If I say yes this is good enough for him I was never told with either one of my pregnancies to actually count movement/kicks

Re: are we supposed to count movements...?
i would def count your kicks in the third trimester..
i know i scared myself a bit with my first born - days i just ran around too much or were on my feet too much - and the baby was sleeping..
but with my second - at 39 weeks - i didnt feel her kick much all night (usually when she was awake) i didnt think anything of it and then the next day, i just felt cramping and contractions started..
my DD had passed a bowel movement and choked on it. She stopped breathing. Sadly, the doc gave me an emergency c-section and resusitated my daughter. She wasnt breathing for maybe 8 minutes they say. We took her off life support 5 days later in the NICU.
im not telling you this to scare you, but to help you. it is very rare to happen but it happened to me and my husband and it would be awful to hear of it happen to any of you.
SOOOO - if you dont feel kicks (esp 37+ weeks) and drank the OJ and laid on your left side and all that - I would call!!!!
