Are you allergic to any foods?
And what if you are? I'm so nosey
I'm allergic to almonds and just recently began having an allergic reaction to butternut squash. Isn't that weird? I mean, I knwo you can have an allergic reaction the first time or the thousandth time you eat something, but I literally grew up eating that.
I USED to be allergic to peanuts and milk, but outgrew that allergy by my teens.

As a child, I had lots of weird food allergies- oj, tomato sauce, anything dairy and other things I can't recall. But I outgrew them.
My DH is allergic to peaches.

I have to be very careful with foods that have nitrates in them. If I'm really stressed out and eat stuff that has nitrates and other preservatives in them I swell up really bad

I actually had a similar & very scary experience. I never had any food allergies. Then back around '99 I started having terrible allergic reactions, hives, swollen eyes, cloing throat. It was happening like once a month. I went to allergists, got blood and skin tests and came up allergic to SO many things. Nuts, especially almonds & walnuts, a bunch of fruit w/ skin (apples, peaches were the worst), strawberries, corn, shell fish, etc. It was insane. It was very upsetting and is still somewhat of a mystery. It has gotten less & less & I haven't had one in about a year (knock on wood). I have incorporated some of the foods back into my diet, but I am always nervous. I now carry an epi pen & benedryl everywhere. I was actually diagnosed w/ Crohn's disease the year they started & my specialist thinks that my immune system was basically attacking itself & that I don't have true food allergies. Honestly, I don't think I will ever really know what it was all about. It is very frustrating.

Mushrooms, and weirdly cinnamon candy or gum. My tongue gets all swollen and painful. I avoid real cinnamon too, just in case.
I really should be tested to see if it's a red food dye or cinnamon, but I'm too lazy to make the appointment.

during allergy season (spring/fall) I can't eat peaches, apples, canteloupe or strawberries because they make my gums and throat itch like crazy. I also can't eat shrimp during that time, my face/ lips get swollen. I used to eat that stuff anyway and deal with the itchiness/ swelling but my doctor told me my throat could close up

Most raw fruits & vegetables. It's weird, I can eat them cooked but if they're raw I get blotchy and get itchy in my throat & ears. I went to the allergist for testing this year & when they did the skin test I blew up right away. The nurse said it was just about the worst she's seen. The only things I didn't get an allergic reaction to was cockroaches & mold.
I guess that works for me if I ever want to live in a filthy damp hole in the wall. Just don't send me a fruit basket.

Not so weird, I am also allergic to cinnamon candy and gum. Makes my mouth swollen and painful. I haven't had any problems with real cinnamon though.

In addition to cinnamon gum I am also allergic to Avocado. Just had a bad reaction this past Friday. Was out to lunch and the salad I ordered had Avocado in the dressing....let's just say that I had a miserable afternoon!

and tomatos (in certain forms)
I'm also allergic to some shelllfish, strawberries, citrus, etc, but the foods where I get a noticeable reaction are milk and tomatos

This is going to sound silly but I think I am allergic to fast food. here's why. Whenever I eat it (the last time I had it was last September) I get this strange reaction - my heart starts racing, I get sick to my stomach...it's bizarre...so I just avoid fast food all together.

there is a baker on Martha Stewart who bakes for people who have food allergies... interesting! : ) they say she had one of the best cupcakes in NYC (they did a taste test)

Me too!! I can't chew Big Red or have Red Hots or anything like that without my mouth getting red and swollen!!
I also found out on my honeymoon that I'm allergic to anchovies.
I feel for you girls with nut/fruit allergies. Restaurants, etc. aren't always up front about what's in everything.
Just this morning I got a CRANBERRY muffin. That's how it was labeled. But it had pistachios in it too!!! Good thing I wasn't allergic!!
